Paras Khadka (born 24 October 1987) is a famous Nepalese former cricket player. He is currently the Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal and the President of the Bagmati Province Cricket Association. From 2008 to 2019, he was the captain of the Nepalese cricket team.
Paras Khadka was an all-rounder in cricket. This means he was good at both batting and bowling. He batted right-handed and bowled right-arm medium-fast and off-break. He played his first international match in April 2004 against Malaysia. In August 2018, Khadka played in Nepal's very first One Day International (ODI) match against the Netherlands. He played a very important role in making Nepalese cricket better.
Khadka was the sixth Nepali cricketer to score an international century. He scored 106 runs without being out against Kuwait in October 2012. As captain, he led Nepal to win several tournaments. These included the 2010 ICC World Cricket League Division Five and the 2012 ICC World Cricket League Division Four. Under his leadership, Nepal also played in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 and gained Twenty20 International status.
On 28 January 2019, he became the first Nepalese batsman to score a century in an ODI match. This happened against the United Arab Emirates. Later, on 28 September 2019, he became the first batsman from Nepal to score a century in a T20I match, playing against Singapore.

Cricket Journey
Starting Out in Cricket
Paras Khadka was born in Kathmandu in 1987. He first played for Nepal at the Under-15 level in December 2002. The next year, he played for the Nepal Under-19s.
In 2004, he played in his first Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. He also made his debut for the senior national team against Malaysia in April 2004. This was his first first-class match.
Later in 2004, he played in the 2004 ACC Trophy. He also played in matches against Singapore, the UAE, and Hong Kong. In 2005, he played in a qualifying tournament for the 2005 ICC Trophy.
After playing a match against Hong Kong, Khadka returned to the Nepal Under-19 team. They won the 2005 ACC Under-19 Cup, which helped them qualify for the 2006 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In that World Cup, Nepal won the plate tournament, beating strong teams like New Zealand and South Africa.
Back with the senior team, Khadka played in the 2006 ACC Trophy. He also played in the ACC Premier League matches that year. In 2007, he played in the 2007 ACC Under-19 Cup, which Nepal won again. He also captained Nepal in the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Leading the Team (2008-2015)
Before the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Paras Khadka was seen as a very talented player. He successfully led Nepal to win the 2010 ICC World Cricket League Division Five.
In May 2012, he went to Canada to play for the Ontario Cricket Academy and Club. He scored 254 runs in 8 games during the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
In 2012, Nepal won the 2012 ACC Trophy Elite title. Khadka scored 291 runs and took 9 wickets. He also scored his first international century against Kuwait in this tournament. He was named the Player of the Tournament. He then led Nepal to win the 2012 ICC World Cricket League Division Four.
He was also named the Player of the Tournament in the 2013 ACC Twenty20 Cup. He led Nepal to win the 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three, which helped them qualify for the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
Khadka also led his country to their first ever World Cup appearance in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. This happened after they finished third in the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
In the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh, he scored 41 runs in matches against Hong Kong and Bangladesh. He made history by taking a wicket with the very first ball of his T20I career against Hong Kong.
In the 2015 ICC World Cricket League Division Two, he scored 185 runs and took 6 wickets. Nepal qualified for the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. He also scored an unbeaten 123 runs in a practice match in South Africa in January 2015.
From 2008 to 2015, in the World Cricket League, he scored 1157 runs with seven half-centuries. In March 2015, he was chosen to play for the Marylebone Cricket Club. He also scored 137 runs in a T20i series against the Netherlands.
Later Career and Retirement (2018 onwards)
In January 2018, he was named captain for Nepal's squad in the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. He played important roles in Nepal's wins, including scoring 51 runs against UAE and 42 runs against Kenya.
In the final match of the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two against UAE, he scored an amazing 112 runs without being out. Nepal lost the match by a small margin, but his century was a highlight. He was praised by the Prime Minister for his team's performance.
In July 2018, he was named captain for Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI) series against the Netherlands. He made his ODI debut on 1 August 2018.
In January 2019, during Nepal's tour of the United Arab Emirates, Paras became the first Nepalese batsman to score an ODI century. He scored 115 runs and was named the Man of the Match.
In September 2019, he scored his first T20I century. He became the first captain in men's T20I cricket to score a century while chasing a target.
On 15 October 2019, Khadka stepped down as the captain of the Nepalese national cricket team. He wanted a fresh start for the team after the Cricket Association of Nepal was put back in charge.
After resigning as captain, Khadka joined Team Abu Dhabi for the 2019 T10 League. This made him the third Nepalese cricketer to play in a foreign league. He said he was honored to play against the world's best players.
In November 2019, he was part of Nepal's squad for the cricket tournament at the 2019 South Asian Games. The Nepal team won the bronze medal. In September 2020, he received a central contract from the Cricket Association of Nepal.
In November 2020, Khadka was nominated for a special award: the ICC Men's Associate Cricketer of the Decade.
On 3 August 2021, Paras Khadka announced that he was retiring from international cricket.
Life After Playing Cricket
After retiring from playing, Paras Khadka started a cricket academy called Cricket Excellence Center. This academy helps develop young cricket talent in Nepal. It has great facilities for aspiring cricketers.
Khadka also joined Team Gujarat for the Legends League Cricket 2024. This is a T-20 cricket league for recently retired international players.
Working in Cricket Management
Paras Khadka has also moved into cricket administration.
- On 14 August 2023, he was elected as a member of the Kathmandu District Cricket Administration.
- On 1 September 2023, he became the president of the Bagmati Province Cricket Association of Nepal.
- On 23 September 2023, he was elected as the secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal.
Team Boycott in 2010
In May 2010, Paras Khadka led 18 national cricket team members in a protest. They held a press conference and said they would not play in the national league. This was because of issues with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). He led another boycott in April 2014, asking for changes in CAN and better facilities for players. This led to discussions about financial problems within CAN.
