Sarah Shahi is an American actress born on January 10, 1980. Her birth name is Aahoo Jahansouzshahi. She is famous for her roles in many TV shows and movies. Sarah played Carmen in The L Word and Kate Reed in Fairly Legal. She also starred as Sameen Shaw in the crime drama Person of Interest. More recently, she was praised for her role in the movie Red, White & Royal Blue.

About Sarah's Early Life
Sarah Shahi was born Aahoo Jahansouzshahi in Euless, Texas, U.S. Her parents, Abbas Jahansouzshahi and Mahmonir Soroushazar, divorced when she was ten. Her father is from Iran. Her mother was born in Spain, with an Iranian father and a Spanish mother. Sarah has an older brother, Cyrus, and a younger sister, Samantha.
Sarah's birth name, Aahoo, means 'gazelle' in Persian. She chose the name Sarah in second grade because other kids teased her about her birth name. She grew up speaking both Persian and English.
Sarah started entering beauty pageants when she was eight. She went to Trinity High School. There, she was the captain of both the volleyball and basketball teams. She later attended Southern Methodist University, studying English and Theater. In 1997, she won the Miss Fort Worth pageant. To help her dream of becoming an actress, she joined the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad from 1999 to 2000. After that, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
Sarah's Acting Career
While working on a movie set in Texas, Sarah met director Robert Altman. He encouraged her to move to Hollywood. There, she started getting roles in TV shows like Alias, Dawson's Creek, and Supernatural.
In 2005, she joined the TV show The L Word as DJ Carmen de la Pica Morales. She was on the show for two seasons. That same year, she appeared in the first episode of Supernatural. She played Constance Welch, also known as The Woman in White.
Sarah also played Farah in the second season of Sleeper Cell. In 2007, she had a small role in the movie Rush Hour 3 as Zoe.
Her first main role in a TV series was in 2007. She co-starred with Damian Lewis in the NBC show Life. She played homicide detective Dani Reese. The show ran for two seasons.
In 2009, Sarah got the main role in a new USA Network show called Facing Kate. The show was later renamed Fairly Legal. Sarah played Kate Reed, a legal mediator who tries to fix problems outside of court. The show was on for two seasons.
Sarah joined the cast of NBC's Chicago Fire in 2012. She played Renee Royce, a love interest for Lt. Kelly Severide. In 2013, she started a recurring role as Sameen Shaw on Person of Interest. She became a main character in the third season. Sarah also appeared in the 2012 action film Bullet to the Head with Sylvester Stallone. She worked with Jason Momoa in the 2014 film Road to Paloma.
In 2016, Sarah was cast as the famous detective Nancy Drew for a TV series, but the show was not picked up. She continued her role as Shaw on Person of Interest until the show ended in June 2016. In 2018, she starred in the TV series Reverie, which ran for one season.
From 2018 to 2019, Sarah had a recurring role on The Rookie. She played Jessica Russo, a security consultant and former FBI agent. In 2019, she also joined City on a Hill as Rachel Behnam, an investigator.
In 2020, Sarah was cast as Adrianna Tomaz in the 2022 movie Black Adam. She starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan.
Sarah's Personal Life
Sarah Shahi married actor Steve Howey on February 7, 2009. They had their first child, a son, in July 2009. In January 2015, she announced she was expecting twins. A daughter and son were born in March. Sarah and Steve filed for divorce in May 2020, and it was finalized in January 2021.
In 2021, Sarah shared that she was in a relationship with Australian actor Adam Demos.
When she was younger, Sarah studied karate. She earned a 1st dan black belt in Shorin-Ryu karate.
