Sasheer Zamata Moore (born May 6, 1986) is an American actress and stand-up comedian. She is well-known for being a cast member on the TV show Saturday Night Live from 2014 to 2017.
After leaving SNL, she gained more attention for her main roles in the TV series Woke (2020–2022) and Home Economics (2021–2023). In 2024, Zamata played Jennifer Kale in the Disney+ Marvel show Agatha All Along. She also works as a special helper for the American Civil Liberties Union, which supports people's rights.

Early Life and Education
Sasheer Zamata was born in Okinawa, Japan. Her father was in the US Air Force, which is why she was born there. She grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Zamata went to Pike High School. She has said her parents named her after a special crystal from the Star Trek TV show. She later attended the University of Virginia. There, she earned a degree and helped start a comedy group called Amuse Bouche. While in college, she also worked at Disney Parks for a short time, playing characters like Buzz Lightyear.
Comedy and Acting Career
Sasheer Zamata has performed comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City since 2009. She has appeared in several TV shows and sketches. These include Would You Fall for That?, Hey Girl, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, and Inside Amy Schumer. She also made funny videos for CollegeHumor.

Joining Saturday Night Live
In 2014, Sasheer Zamata joined the cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL). This was during the show's 39th season. She joined at a time when some people felt the show needed more diversity in its cast. Zamata was the first Black female cast member on SNL since Maya Rudolph left in 2007.
Zamata first appeared on SNL on January 18, 2014. She did an impression of Rihanna in that episode. She later became a main cast member. Some of her celebrity impressions on the show included Rihanna, Michelle Obama, Kerry Washington, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, and Lupita Nyong'o. She left SNL in 2017 after the 42nd season.
Working for Women's Rights
In 2015, Zamata became a special ambassador for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). She started working with their Women's Rights Project. This project helps to fight against unfair treatment based on gender. It also works to make sure everyone has equal chances in school and jobs.
Zamata has spoken out about gender unfairness in the U.S. She has also supported equal rights for women of color. She shared her own experiences with unfair treatment. She hopes to use her stories to help other women feel good about themselves and their bodies.
