Plot
A Birthday Cruise to Remember
Fred gets a special birthday gift: a mystery cruise for the whole Mystery Inc. gang! His parents, Skip and Peggy, arranged it. Before the ship leaves, Scooby and Shaggy see a scary man in a cloak. They are sure he is planning something bad.
The gang meets Sunny St. Cloud, the very energetic Cruise Director, and Captain Crothers. The Captain tells them they are sailing to the Bermuda Triangle. Sunny promises lots of creepy fun. At first, the cruise has many fake "mysteries" that the gang solves easily. This makes the other guests a bit annoyed because there are no real puzzles left for them.
Ghost Pirates Appear
Soon, they rescue Rupert Garcia, a man lost at sea. He tells them he met real ghost pirates! The gang thinks this is just another fake mystery. Rupert is taken below deck. Then, a man in a jet-pack lands on the ship. It is Biff Wellington, a rich English billionaire known for being fun and a bit strange. He decides to join the cruise too.
That night, everyone attends a costume party dinner. The cloaked man appears on stage. He is Mister Mysterio, a famous hypnotist! Shaggy and Scooby are chosen for a demonstration. They are immune to his hypnotism, but the rest of the audience falls under his spell. Mysterio then ends the hypnotism and disappears.
A Real Mystery Unfolds
Suddenly, a thick, creepy fog covers the cruise ship. Ghost pirates, led by Captain Skunkbeard and his first mate Wally, attack! They chase the guests, who all mysteriously vanish. Fred's parents, Skip and Peggy, are kidnapped. The pirates then sink the cruise ship and leave on their galleon. The gang realizes this is a real mystery! Only they and Rupert are left on the damaged ship.
With Rupert's help, they follow a glowing trail left by the galleon. They arrive at a secret harbor. There, they find Rupert's old ship. But then, the ghost pirates capture them! They are taken aboard the pirates' galleon. The pirates are searching for a special meteor. This meteor has mystic power and is said to be the source of the Bermuda Triangle's strange events. It fell into the Triangle 200 years ago. The pirates believe Rupert's old painting and his skills as an astrophotographer can help them find it.
Unmasking the Villains
The gang is tied to the mast with Skip. But there are no other cruise guests anywhere. The galleon sails into the heart of the Triangle. They start seeing ghosts of past ships and planes from the Triangle, like Flight 19 and the USS Cyclops. They even see a sea serpent!
Amidst this chaos, the gang escapes and explores below deck. They find lots of modern equipment. This equipment was used to create the ghostly images they just saw! The ship enters a strange ring of rocks. They pull up the meteor, which glows bright golden yellow.
The gang tries to set a trap, but it fails. The pirates try to recapture them, leading to a classic Scooby-Doo chase scene! Scooby and Shaggy manage to capture the entire pirate crew. Captain Skunkbeard is revealed to be Biff Wellington! Wally is revealed to be Mister Mysterio! The rest of the pirates are actually the missing cruise guests, Rupert's shipmates, and other people Mysterio had hypnotized.
The Meteor's Secret
Wellington explains that Mysterio convinced him he was a pirate from long ago. Mysterio said he could use the meteor to travel back in time. Mysterio used this trick to get Wellington to pay for the search for the meteor. The crew were just people under Mysterio's powerful hypnotism. Mysterio's real plan was to steal the meteor because it was pure gold! He wanted to become super rich. But Scooby stops him!
Just then, a volcano nearby reacts. The gang figures out that the Bermuda Triangle wants the meteor back. So, they drop it back into the water. Fred expertly steers the galleon, and they narrowly escape the ring of rocks as it crumbles into the sea. The cruise guests use the galleon as a giant party boat. They sail back to Miami to hand over the villains to the police.
