Scooby-Doo! Abracadabra-Doo is an animated mystery movie from 2010. It's the fourteenth film in a newer series based on the classic Scooby-Doo cartoons. Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone directed the movie.
Warner Bros. Animation made Scooby-Doo! Abracadabra-Doo in 2009. It was first released on DVD on February 16, 2010. Later, it was shown on Cartoon Network on July 10, 2010. The movie was very popular online, reaching the top 10 on kids' movie charts. It sold over 433,000 DVDs by 2013.
This film was special because it was the first Scooby-Doo animated movie where Matthew Lillard voiced Shaggy. He had played Shaggy in the live-action movies before. Also, the animation style changed to look more like earlier films such as Zombie Island. The characters also went back to their original outfits from the Where Are You! TV show.

The Story of Abracadabra-Doo
After solving their latest mystery, the gang gets a call from Velma's mom. She asks Velma to check on her younger sister, Madelyn. Madelyn goes to a special college for magicians.
Welcome to the Magic Academy
The gang travels to the Whirlen Merlin Magic Academy. It's located in an old castle in Ireland. There, they meet Whirlen Merlin, who owns the school. They also meet his brother Marlon, who is the cook, and Crystal, Whirlen's old stage helper. The gang quickly learns that a giant griffin has been scaring everyone away from the school.
Later that night, Madelyn, who likes Shaggy, takes him for a walk. She shows him an old sun-dial in the gardens. Madelyn explains that the griffin was supposed to protect the school. But then, the griffin chases them from the garden! Because of the scary griffin, most of the students leave. So, the gang decides to take magic classes themselves.
Meanwhile, a powerful ice-cream boss named Calvin Curdles keeps trying to buy Whirlen's castle. The gang wonders if Curdles is behind the griffin attacks. They promise to investigate.
Uncovering Secrets and a Magical Staff
Velma and Daphne find a secret passage. It leads to the school's attic. There, they discover that Alma Rumblebuns, the head maid, used to date Calvin Curdles.
At the same time, Shaggy and Scooby find the castle's special effects room. Ms. Rumblebuns finds them there. They accidentally knock over some chemicals, which creates a thick fog.
Madelyn then finds a book about the ancient staff of O'Flannery. O'Flannery was the castle's first owner. The book says the staff can control the griffin. Even though Amos warns them that the island where the staff is kept is haunted by a Banshee, the gang goes to O'Flannery's crypt. They find the staff, but the Banshee chases them away! They barely escape.
The Griffin's Attack and the Truth
After they get the staff, the griffin quickly appears again. As the gang runs back to the castle, Shaggy and Madelyn bump into Amos. They accidentally swap the staff with Amos's pitchfork. When Madelyn runs back outside to get the staff, the griffin kidnaps her!
Meanwhile, the gang finds out that Amos has been secretly working for Calvin Curdles. Amos was trying to make Whirlen sell the castle. While the gang goes to rescue Madelyn, Calvin tries to get Whirlen to sign over the castle.
The gang gets into the tower with the staff. But they get separated when the griffin attacks. Shaggy and Scooby are left alone. Shaggy discovers that the staff is a key to the griffin's roost. They rescue Madelyn there. But their happy reunion is cut short when the griffin attacks again! They manage to escape. Shaggy throws the staff at the griffin, causing it to go out of control.
Everyone, including Curdles, rushes outside. The griffin crashes to the ground. They discover it's actually a giant puppet! It was controlled from a blimp hidden by a fog machine. Whirlen's brother, Marlon, was controlling it.
Marlon explains that he found mechanical parts that looked like a griffin's beak and talons. These were hidden in the Gryphon's Roost by Lord O'Flannery. O'Flannery wanted people to think a real griffin lived there. Marlon fixed them and used them to scare people away. He was also the one behind the Banshee, which was just a hologram.
Marlon was tired of doing all the hard work but not getting any credit. He wanted to use his puppets and illusions to become a famous magician himself. But he needed money to start. The only way was to make Whirlen sell the castle. So, Marlon used his griffin puppet to scare everyone away. He apologizes to Whirlen, saying he didn't want to take away his dream. Whirlen forgives Marlon, and everything turns out well.
Velma reveals that Amos found Marlon rebuilding the griffin. Amos then told Curdles about it. Curdles admits he wanted to buy the castle to win back Alma's heart. Alma accepts him, and they become a couple again. The Merlin brothers decide to make Madelyn their apprentice. Soon after, Calvin Curdles helps pay for the reopening of the Merlin Brothers' Academy of Magic. Madelyn performs there with Daphne as her assistant.
