Garrett Robin Hamler (born March 30, 1979), known as Sean Garrett, is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is often called "The Pen" because he has written so many hit songs for famous artists. He has helped create many popular R&B and hip-hop songs.
Sean Garrett co-wrote Usher's big hit "Yeah!" in 2004. This song was number one on the music charts. He also helped write other number-one songs. These include "Goodies" for Ciara, "Check on It" for Beyoncé, and "Run It!" for Chris Brown. He also wrote "London Bridge" for Fergie and "Grillz" for Nelly. In total, he has written many songs that reached the top of different music charts. Sean Garrett has also been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
Some of his other well-known songs for Beyoncé are "Diva" and "Upgrade U". He also wrote songs for Destiny's Child, like "Soldier" and "Girl". He often works with other producers like Swizz Beatz and Polow da Don.

Sean Garrett was born in Atlanta, Georgia. When he was four years old, his family moved to Europe. His father was in the U.S. military, so they moved around a lot. They lived in different army bases in Germany and England.
From a young age, Sean loved to perform. He took part in talent shows. When he was 17, he even got a music contract. A few years later, he came back to the U.S. and started writing and recording his own songs. He always saw himself as an artist. He also went to college and studied business.

Sean Garrett started his career as a performer. His first album, Turbo 919, came out on August 28, 2008. He released it through Interscope Records. Sean Garrett has a famous saying in many of the songs he produces: "Smash on the radio, bet I penned it." This means he probably wrote the hit song.
He worked with Ludacris on his first single, "Grippin'". In return, Sean Garrett sang on Ludacris's song "What Them Girls Like". He also wrote and produced "I Did It for Love" for the K-pop singer BoA. Sean Garrett was featured in that song and its music video.
In 2010, he released "Get It All", which featured Nicki Minaj. This was the first single from his mixtape The Inkwell. In 2011, he released "Feel Love" with J. Cole. He also released "In da Box" with Rick Ross that same year.
