Sebastián Ignacio González Valdés (born 14 December 1978) is a former Chilean footballer. He was known as Chamagol and played as a striker. He was a talented player who scored many goals during his career.

Playing for Clubs: Sebastián González's Journey

Sebastián González started his football career at Colo-Colo, a top team in his home country, Chile. He played there for four seasons, scoring 27 goals in 77 games. This was a great start to his professional journey.

Moving to Mexico: Atlante Success

In June 2002, González moved to Mexico to play for Atlante. He quickly became a star player for the team. In his first season, he scored 13 goals in 19 games. The next season, he scored 16 goals in the same number of games. This made him the top scorer in the league!

New Teams and Loans: Continuing the Career

After his successful time at Atlante, González joined UANL Tigres in January 2006. He later played for other teams on loan, including Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz in Mexico and Olimpo de Bahía Blanca in Argentina.

In 2008, he signed with León in Mexico. Many fans were excited to welcome him to the team. The next year, he returned to Colo-Colo for a short time. He even scored a goal in an important away game against Palmeiras.

Playing in Other Countries: Cyprus, Bolivia, and Venezuela

After his second time at Colo-Colo, González moved to Cyprus to play for APOP Kinyras FC. He then returned to Mexico to play for Potros Neza, a team connected to Atlante. He scored eight goals in 27 games for them.

Later, he joined The Strongest, a big club in Bolivia. After that, he played for Caracas in Venezuela. He then returned to Chile to play for Palestino. He wanted to end his career by scoring 200 goals.

Playing for Chile: International Career

Sebastián González also played for the Chile national football team. He represented his country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The team won a bronze medal there, which was a big achievement!

He also played in the 2004 Copa América tournament in Peru. Between 2001 and 2005, he scored six goals for Chile in 17 games. Two of these goals were in official matches against Paraguay and Peru.

Family and Nickname: Why "Chamagol"?

Sebastián González is the nephew of Francisco Chamaco Valdés, who was also a famous Chilean footballer. Francisco Valdés was a very important player for Colo-Colo. Because of his uncle's nickname, Sebastián became known as Chamagol.

Life After Football: New Roles

After retiring from playing football, Sebastián González started working in media. He has been a commentator and analyst for different radio and TV channels. These include Canal del Fútbol (CDF) and ADN Radio.

He also studied and became a Sport Manager. In 2021, he worked as the sports director for Deportes Iberia. In 2022, he took on the role of Sports Manager for Deportes Recoleta.
