Serravalle (which means Saravâl in Romagnol language) is one of the nine special towns called castelli in San Marino. It is the largest and most populated town in San Marino. About 10,878 people live here. Serravalle covers an area of 10.53 square kilometers (about 4 square miles). It is located near the Apennine Mountains.

A part of Serravalle is called Galazzano. This area has a weather station and a busy industrial zone. Serravalle is known for having the northernmost and lowest points in San Marino. The town is only about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from central Rimini and the Adriatic Sea.

A Look at Serravalle's Past
Serravalle was first mentioned in a document from the year 962. In the Middle Ages, it was known as Castrum Olnani, or later Olnano. This name meant "village of the elm trees." Serravalle became part of San Marino in 1463. This was during the last time San Marino expanded its territory.
Earthquakes in Serravalle
On August 16, 1916, an earthquake hit Rimini. Several houses in Serravalle collapsed because of it. Two other houses were damaged by an earlier earthquake on May 17, 1916.

- Chiesa di Sant Andrea: This is Saint Andrea's Church. It was built in 1824 by Luigi Fonti.
- Stadio Olimpico: This stadium is not for the Olympics. It is used for local San Marino football (soccer) games.
- Stadio di Baseball di Serravalle: This is the home field for the T & A San Marino Baseball Club. This team plays in the Italian Baseball League.
