Starting in Journalism
Shailagh Murray began her career as a journalist. From 1999 to 2005, she worked for The Wall Street Journal. After that, she became a reporter for The Washington Post. She covered important elections in 2006, 2008, and 2010, reporting on what was happening in Capitol Hill, where the U.S. Congress meets.
Working in Government
In 2011, Shailagh Murray joined the Office of the Vice President. She started as the communications director, which meant she was in charge of how the Vice President's office shared information with the public. Later, she was promoted to deputy chief of staff. This role meant she helped manage the Vice President's office.
