Shakopee Creek is part of a larger water system. Its waters eventually join the Minnesota River. From there, they flow into the mighty Mississippi River.

Shakopee Creek begins in Kandiyohi County. It starts at the end of Andrew Lake. Its main source is an outlet from Games Lake. This lake is about 7 miles (11 km) northwest of New London.

The Journey of Shakopee Creek

From Andrew Lake, the creek flows west. It enters Swift County. Here, it passes close to the town of Kerkhoven.

The creek then briefly turns south. It dips into Chippewa County. After this short turn, it goes back into Swift County. It continues flowing until it reaches the Chippewa River. This meeting point is about 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Benson.
