College Football Career
Griffin played for the UCF Knights from 2013 to 2016. He had offers from other teams, but he chose UCF to play with his twin brother, Shaquem. Shaquill played one season more than Shaquem. This was because Shaquem took a redshirt year, meaning he didn't play in his first year to save his eligibility.
As a freshman, Shaquill made six tackles and defended one pass. In his second year, he had 15 tackles and one interception. During his junior year, he made 43 tackles, one interception that he returned for a touchdown, and 11 passes defended. In his senior year, he had 49 tackles, four interceptions (two of which were touchdowns), and 15 passes defended. He also recovered one fumble.
Becoming a Professional Player
Before the NFL Draft, Shaquill showed off his skills at special events. He was invited to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. He also went to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the Combine, he was one of the best performers among cornerbacks. He did very well in the broad jump, vertical jump, and the 40-yard dash.
