Sharon Au (born August 13, 1975) is a talented former actress and host from Singapore. She became well-known in the mid-1990s after joining TCS. Sharon won many awards during her time with MediaCorp, which is a big media company in Singapore.
In 2005, she took a break from her busy career to go to university on a scholarship. After graduating in 2011, she returned to MediaCorp to work in an office role. Even though she had an executive job, she was still often asked to host big events on TV and in theatres. In February 2018, Sharon left MediaCorp. Later that year, in October 2018, she started a new job in Paris, France, working as an investment director for a company.

Sharon Au's Early Life and School Days
Sharon Au grew up in a simple home and is very close to her mother. She has shared that she has a condition called scoliosis, which affects her spine, and she uses a special bed at home to help with it.
For her schooling, Sharon attended CHIJ Saint Nicholas Girls' School (Secondary) and Hwa Chong Junior College in Singapore. She later went to Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, where she earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in 2011. Sadly, her father passed away in December 2023 at the age of 74.
Sharon Au's Career Journey
Sharon's first job after finishing her 'A' levels was as a flight attendant with Singapore Airlines. Her journey into the entertainment world began when she was discovered during an English stage musical called I Have A Date With Spring.
Becoming a Star Host and Actress
In the late 1990s, Sharon became very popular for co-hosting a show called City Beat with Kym Ng and Bryan Wong. She also played many different characters in plays and TV shows. For example, she was a cabaret girl in the musical Beauty World and an energetic radio host in the sitcom Right Frequency. People really loved her performances.
Sharon is great at speaking many languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, French, and some Spanish. This helped her become one of the top hosts at Mediacorp, alongside other famous hosts like Quan Yi Fong and Guo Liang. She even won the Star Awards for Best Variety Show Host four years in a row, from 2000 to 2003!
Studying Abroad and Returning to MediaCorp
At the peak of her career in 2005, Sharon decided to take a break to study in Japan. She attended Waseda University in Tokyo on a scholarship from MediaCorp. She also spent a year studying in France at Jean Moulin University Lyon 3 as part of an exchange program.
Even while studying, Sharon was sometimes invited back to host important events. She hosted for the Singapore Prime Minister's visit to Beijing and also for the Star Awards in 2007. In April 2011, she returned to MediaCorp to work for six years as part of her scholarship agreement. She hosted the President Star Charity show in 2012. In 2015, she was one of the three main hosts for the SEA Games held in Singapore. During this event, she apologized for mimicking an Indian accent, which caused some discussion. In the same year, she played a main role as Madam Kwa Geok Choo in The LKY Musical, performing 37 shows.
New Ventures and Life After MediaCorp
In 2012, Sharon started and led styleXstyle.com, a website by MediaCorp that focused on fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. In 2016, she helped open the Style by Style Vibes cafe at the new Mediacorp campus. The next year, in 2017, she became the Publisher for ELLE Singapore as MediaCorp moved its magazines more towards digital platforms.
On February 1, 2018, Sharon officially left Mediacorp. She had planned to take a year off, but after spending two months in Paris, France, she decided to apply for a job. Since October 2018, she has been working as an investment director for a private company in Paris.
