Shawn Faulkner, born on June 22, 1962, is a former American football player. He was a talented running back. Shawn played for several teams during his career. These included teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also played college football before turning professional.
Early Life and High School Sports
Shawn Faulkner grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. He played high school football at Port Huron Central High School. Shawn was not just good at football. He was also a star in track and field. He even made it to the state finals twice! He competed in events like the low hurdles and high jump. His track team also named him their Most Outstanding Runner. Shawn also spent two years wrestling.
College Football Career
Shawn Faulkner played college football for the Western Michigan Broncos. He was part of their team from 1980 to 1983. In his senior year, 1983, he was amazing. He was the second-best rusher in NCAA Division I-A! He gained an impressive 1,668 yards that season. Shawn was recognized twice for his skills. He earned All-Mid-American Conference honors. Throughout his college career, he rushed for 3,341 yards. He also scored 15 touchdowns.
Professional Football Journey
Shawn Faulkner started his professional career in 1984. He played for the Michigan Panthers in the United States Football League (USFL). In 1985, he joined the Oakland Invaders, also in the USFL. He played in eighteen games for them.
In 1986, Shawn moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played six games for the Montreal Alouettes. The next year, 1987, he played five games for the Ottawa Rough Riders. From 1988 to 1989, Shawn played for the Calgary Stampeders. He appeared in eighteen games for them. Later, in 1992, he played for the Tampa Bay Storm. This team was part of the Arena Football League.
