Shelby is a city located in Bolivar County, Mississippi, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,021 people lived there. The town was started in 1853 by Tom Shelby, who bought land from the government.

Shelby is a city with a total area of about 7.1 square kilometers (2.7 square miles). Only a very small part of this area, about 0.03 square kilometers, is water.
The back entrance of the Mississippi State Penitentiary is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) east of Shelby. It is located in unincorporated Sunflower County, along Mississippi Highway 32.

Northside High School opened in 2018. Before that, students attended Broad Street High School in Shelby, which later combined with Northside. Shelby Middle School also closed in 2018.
