Sheldon is a small town located in Wyoming County, New York. In 2010, about 2,409 people lived there. The Town of Sheldon is on the western side of Wyoming County. It is located southeast of the city of Buffalo.

History of Sheldon
The Town of Sheldon was first established in 1808. It was created from a part of the Town of Batavia.
Later, other towns were formed from parts of Sheldon. In 1811, the Town of Attica was created. Then, in 1818, the towns of Bennington and Arcade were also formed from Sheldon's original land.
Geography of Sheldon
Sheldon covers a total area of about 47.4 square miles (122.7 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.06%), is water.
The western edge of Sheldon borders Erie County, New York. Two important creeks flow through the town. Cayuga Creek flows north through the eastern part of Sheldon. The Buffalo Creek flows through the southwestern part of the town.
A major road, U.S. Route 20A, crosses the northern part of Sheldon. This road meets New York State Route 77 at a place called Persons Corners.

- Strykersville – This is a hamlet in the southwest corner of Sheldon. It is located on Route 78.
- Toziers Corner – This hamlet is located east of Sheldon Center.
- Varysburg – This hamlet is near the border of the Town of Orangeville. It is located where Routes 20A and 98 intersect.
