Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay (Bengali: শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়) is a famous Bengali author from India. He was born on November 2, 1935. He has written many exciting stories for both grown-ups and children. He is well-known for creating detective characters like Barodacharan and Shabor Dasgupta.

About Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay was born in Mymensingh, which is now part of Bangladesh. His family originally came from Bainkhara, Bikrampur. When India was divided in 1947, his family moved to Kolkata.
He spent his childhood traveling a lot with his father, who worked for the railways. They lived in different places in Bihar, Bengal, and Assam. He studied at Victoria College in Koch Bihar and later earned a Master's degree in Bengali from Calcutta University.
Mukhopadhyay started his career as a school teacher. Later, he joined the staff of Anandabazar Patrika, a well-known newspaper in Kolkata. He also works with the Bengali magazine Desh.
His Books and Stories
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay started writing a long time ago. His very first story, "Jal Taranga," was published in the magazine "Desh" in 1959. A few years later, his first novel, Ghunpoka, came out in the special annual Puja edition of Desh magazine.
He also writes many wonderful books for children. His first novel for young readers was called Manojder Adbhut Bari.
