Shun Oguri (小栗 旬) (born December 26, 1982) is a famous Japanese actor and voice actor. His father, Tetsuya Oguri, is a stage director. Shun is the youngest of three siblings. His older brother, Ryo, is also an actor.
Shun Oguri started acting at a young age. He had small roles in projects where his father and brother worked. His official acting career began when he was 13. This was in the TV drama Hachidai Shogun Yoshimune (1995). He has been in over 100 movies and TV shows. Some of his well-known films include Lupin the 3rd, Crows Zero, and Gintama.
In 2010, he directed his first movie, Surely Someday. He even had a small role in it. Shun Oguri made his Hollywood movie debut in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021. He also does voice acting. In 2005, he voiced Alfons Heiderich in Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa. He has voiced other characters in different series too.

Acting Career Highlights
Shun Oguri first appeared on TV in the NHK drama Hachidai Shogun Yoshimune. He became more recognized after playing Noboru Yoshikawa in Great Teacher Onizuka. This role was about a child who was bullied. His acting in that drama helped him get bigger roles.
Early Roles and Breakthrough
In 2000, he played a character who was deaf in Summer Snow. In 2002, he starred in the popular drama Gokusen. Here, he played a bully, which was different from his previous role. Oguri became very famous in 2005. This was after his big role as Hanazawa Rui in Hana Yori Dango.
In 2007, he played Izumi Sano in Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. He acted alongside Toma Ikuta and Maki Horikita. In 2008, Oguri took on a main role in Binbō Danshi. He played an optimistic college student named Kazumi Koyama. In 2009, he was the lead in Tokyo Dogs as an American detective, So Takakura.
Continued Success in Dramas
He worked again with Mao Inoue from Hana Yori Dango in the drama Jūi Dolittle. This show started in October 2010. In 2012, he starred with Satomi Ishihara in Rich Man, Poor Woman. He played a rich young man named Toru Hyuga. This role won him his first Best Actor award.
In 2014, Oguri starred in the historical drama Nobunaga Concerto. He played both a high school student, Saburo, and the warlord Nobunaga Oda. He continued to appear in other history-based dramas. In 2015, he reunited with Toma Ikuta in the TBS drama Ouroboros. He played Tatsuya Danno in that series.
Movie Roles and Hollywood Debut
In 2006, Oguri played Shinichi Kudo in the first Detective Conan live-action movie. In 2014, he was the main character in the live-action movie Lupin the third. In 2017, he played Gintoki Sakata in the first live-action movie of Gintama. He played this role again in two mini-series and another movie.
In November 2018, Oguri was cast in Godzilla vs. Kong. This was his first Hollywood movie. The film was released in March 2021. He also appeared in films like Sukiyaki Western Django, Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, and The Voice of Sin.
Voice Acting Work
In 2005, Oguri lent his voice in Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa. His brother Ryo also voiced a character in this movie. In 2009, he voiced Akio Asakura in Wangan Midnight.
Directing and Other Projects
Shun Oguri is also a director. He directed a commercial in 2009. His first major movie as a director was Surely Someday. It was released in Japan on July 17, 2010. Oguri cast many of his friends in the movie. These included Keisuke Koide as the lead. Actresses Mao Inoue and Aya Ueto had small roles. Oguri himself also made a cameo appearance.
In 2007, Oguri started hosting a radio show. It was called "Oguri Shun no All Night Nippon". He hosted it until 2010. He has made special appearances on the show since then.
In 2011, after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, he joined a group of actors and singers. They appeared in commercials for Suntory. They sang songs to help with the relief efforts.
In 2023, Oguri became the President of Tristone Entertainment. This is the talent agency he belongs to. In October 2024, it was announced that Oguri and other Tristone artists would take part in a fan event. This event, "Tristone Fan Fes 2025 ~UNDOKAI~", took place on March 15, 2025. Oguri said the event was a way to celebrate with fans. It allowed fans to see the talents of many artists.
Personal Life
Shun Oguri married actress and model Yu Yamada on March 14, 2012. They have four children. Their children were born in 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2022. Their third child was born in Los Angeles, United States.
