About Sian Blake's Early Life and Career

Sian Blake was born in Walthamstow, London, in 1972. She went to the Guildford School of Acting to learn how to perform. She was the youngest of three children. Her father was from Jamaica. Her parents separated when she was six years old. Her father passed away when she was eighteen.

Sian started using the stage name Syan Blake. Her first acting job was in 1994. She played a patient in the Christmas episode of Casualty.

After working as a receptionist, Sian got her most famous role. She played Frankie Pierre, a soul singer, in EastEnders. This character was on the show in 1996 and 1997. She first tried out for a small part as a nurse. But the producers liked her so much that they asked her to try for the bigger role of Frankie.

She was first hired for six months. Later, her contract was made longer. One of Frankie's main stories was having a relationship with another character. This storyline caused some viewers to send Sian unkind messages. She later said she left the show because of these messages.

After EastEnders, Sian had roles in other TV shows. These included Doctors, The Bill, and Skins. She also appeared in Casualty again. Later, she stopped acting. She then became a sign language teacher and interpreter.

Besides TV and film, Sian also acted in and directed plays. Some plays she acted in were Joe Guy and Love's Labour's Lost. She directed plays like Oxford Street at the Soho Theatre.
