Sidney Green (born January 4, 1961) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played college basketball for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. In 1983, he was chosen by the Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft. After playing for ten years in the NBA, he became a college coach. Today, he works as an ambassador for the Chicago Bulls team.

Sidney Green's Early Life and College Career
Sidney Green was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew to be 6 feet 9 inches tall. He played as a forward and center. Green went to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. There, he played for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team.
His college career was very successful. In 1983, he was named an All-American player. This means he was one of the best college players in the country. His team, UNLV, made it to the second round of the 1983 national championship. They lost to North Carolina State, who went on to win the championship that year.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Sidney Green was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1983 NBA draft. This was a big achievement, as he was one of the top players chosen. He played in the NBA for ten years.
During his career, he played for several teams. These included the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets. He retired from playing basketball in 1993. By then, he had scored 5,080 career points. He also grabbed 4,128 rebounds.
Coaching and Beyond
After his NBA playing career ended, Sidney Green became a basketball coach. He coached at Southampton College from 1995 to 1997. Then, he was the head coach for the Ospreys at the University of North Florida from 1997 to 1999. From 1999 to 2005, he coached the Owls at Florida Atlantic University.
On September 24, 2009, Green returned to the Chicago Bulls. He worked as a player development assistant. Later, he became a community relations ambassador for the Bulls. In this role, he helps connect the team with its fans and community.
Sidney Green's Family
Sidney Green's son, Taurean Green, also became a successful basketball player. Taurean played for the University of Florida team. This team won the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship in both 2006 and 2007. Taurean Green has also played basketball professionally, both in the NBA and in Europe.
