The Sierra de Los Filabres is the biggest mountain range in Almería Province, Andalusia, Spain. It stretches for about 50 kilometers (31 miles).
This mountain range is home to the Calar Alto Observatory, a very important place for looking at stars. The highest point in the range is called Calar Alto. It is also the highest peak in the whole Almería province.

Exploring the Sierra de Los Filabres
The Sierra de Los Filabres is part of a larger group of mountains called the Penibaetic System. It forms the southern edge of the Almanzora Valley.
Tallest Peaks in the Range
Besides Calar Alto, which is 2,168 meters (7,113 feet) high, there are other important peaks. These include the Tetica de Bacares, also known as "La Tetica," which is 2,086 meters (6,844 feet) tall. Another peak is the Calar Gallinero, standing at 2,049 meters (6,722 feet).

The Sierra de Los Filabres is connected to the Sierra de Baza mountain range. You can find many lovely towns hidden in these mountains. Some of these towns are Olula de Castro, Chercos Viejo, and Sierro.
