History of Siloam
How Siloam Got Its Name
Siloam was first settled in the 1840s. Back then, it had a different name: "Smyrna." Later, in 1871, a post office opened in the town. At that time, the name was changed to Siloam.
The name "Siloam" comes from an ancient place mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. It refers to the Siloam tunnel, which was a water tunnel in Jerusalem.

Siloam is in the eastern part of Greene County, Georgia. You can find it at these coordinates: 33°32′8″N 83°4′50″W / 33.53556°N 83.08056°W.
Getting Around Siloam
Several roads help people travel to and from Siloam:
- Georgia State Route 15 goes through the town. It's known as Main Street.
- Route 15 leads northwest about 7 miles (11 km) to Greensboro, which is the main town of the county.
- It also goes south about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) to White Plains.
- State Route 77 heads north from Siloam's center, about 6 miles (10 km) to Union Point.
- Interstate 20 (I-20) passes by the northern part of town. You can get on I-20 from Exit 138 (State Route 77).
- I-20 can take you east about 64 miles (103 km) to Augusta or west about 80 miles (129 km) to Atlanta.
