What's New in SimCity 4?
SimCity 4 brought some cool new ways to play compared to earlier games. These features help you build and grow your dream city.
God Mode
One of the biggest new features is called 'God Mode'. Imagine you have superpowers to shape the land! In this mode, you can create mountains, dig lakes, carve out rivers, and even make deep canyons. This is the first step before you even start building roads or houses.
MySims Mode
Another neat feature is "MySims" mode. If you play The Sims, you can bring your own Sims characters into your SimCity 4 city! This lets you see what your citizens are thinking and how happy (or unhappy) they are with your city. It's a fun way to connect with your city's residents.
Regions and Connected Cities
In SimCity 4, your cities are part of bigger regions. This means different cities in the same area can be connected! You can link them up with roads or train lines, and they can even share important resources like water. The game comes with some regions already made, but you can also create your very own unique regions to build in.
Understanding RCI Demand
RCI is a super important part of SimCity 4 that helps your city grow. RCI stands for:
- Residential (for homes and people)
- Commercial (for shops and offices)
- Industrial (for factories and jobs)
The game shows you how much demand there is for each of these. If the demand is high, it means people want to move in, or businesses want to open. This makes your city grow faster! If there's no demand, or even negative demand, buildings might become empty and look run down.
How Cities Grow Big
When you have high demand and enough space, your city will start to build bigger and taller buildings. This is called "high density" zoning. The more people who live in your city, the more likely you are to see giant skyscrapers! For example, residential skyscrapers can start appearing when your city's population reaches about 30,000 people. Commercial skyscrapers might start showing up when your business population hits around 45,000.
