History of Sinking Spring
A post office in Sinking Spring started operating in 1817. The village got its name from a special kind of stream nearby. This stream is called a "losing stream" because its water disappears into the ground. Sinking Spring was even mentioned in the 1980s Sesame Street movie Follow That Bird.
