The show won an important award called a BAFTA in 2003. This award was for "Best Writer" and went to Alex Williams. The show was also nominated for "Best Drama" at the BAFTA Children's Awards in 2002. It also won "Best Children's Programme" at the INDIE Awards in 2003.
What the Story Is About
The story takes place in Camelot, the legendary home of King Arthur and his Round Table knights. Sir Gadabout is one of these knights, but he's very clumsy! He tries his best to protect King Arthur, but he often messes things up. The other knights, especially the handsome but annoying Sir Lancelot, often tease him. Sir Gadabout and his friends always try to get the better of Sir Lancelot.
King Arthur leads the Round Table. He is a bit clumsy himself, so he understands Sir Gadabout's mistakes. King Arthur has a teenage daughter, Princess Elenora. She is much smarter and more capable than her dad. Elenora often helps Sir Gadabout and his squire, Will (and later Juan), on their adventures.
The kingdom of Camelot is often in danger from two bad guys: Sir Rancid and his "Nanny." They are a funny version of the villains Sir Mordred and Morgan le Fay from the old Arthurian legends. They always try to destroy Camelot and the Round Table. But Sir Gadabout, Will, and a mysterious hero called "Sir Knight" always stop them. Only Merlin, the wise magician, knows who "Sir Knight" really is. Merlin watches over Camelot using his magic crystal ball.

Main Characters
- Sir Gadabout - He is known as "the worst knight in the land." He is a good person, but very clumsy and not very smart. He is terrible with a sword. He often gets into trouble by accident. He has a funny rivalry with the proud Sir Lancelot. Sir Gadabout is played by Jason Thorpe.
- King Arthur - He is the ruler of Camelot. King Arthur is a bit odd and doesn't always see when Sir Rancid and Nanny are planning something. But he is kind and means well. He feels sorry for Gadabout and lets him stay. He doesn't realize how capable his daughter Elenora is. He sometimes carries a teddy bear. King Arthur is played by Kim Wall.
- Sir Rancid and Nanny - These two are the main bad guys and enemies of King Arthur. They live in a dark, gloomy castle shaped like a claw. They are a funny but mean pair who always dream of Camelot falling apart. They are a silly version of the villains Morgana and Mordred from the old King Arthur stories. They are played by Vincent Franklin and Gillian Wright.
- Princess Elenora/Sir Knight - She is King Arthur's beautiful and tomboyish daughter. Elenora wants to be a knight, but her father doesn't think she can do it. She often ends up protecting her father from Rancid and Nanny. When there's trouble, she secretly puts on a silver suit of armor. She then appears as the mysterious "Sir Knight." Only Merlin knows that Elenora is really Sir Knight. Princess Elenora is played by Tamsin Egerton.
- Master Will Watford - In the first season, Will is Sir Gadabout's squire and Elenora's best friend. He dreams of becoming a knight. He becomes friends with Elenora's secret hero, "Sir Knight." He often helps Sir Knight save King Arthur and the other knights. Elenora likes him, but she can't tell him she is Sir Knight because it's a big secret. Will is played by Will Theakston.
- Juan de Frisco - Juan is Sir Gadabout's squire in the second season. He is from Spain. At first, he and Elenora don't get along well because she misses Will. Elenora argues with everything Juan says. He really looks up to "Sir Knight." Like Will, he doesn't know that Sir Knight is actually Elenora. Juan is played by Asier Newman.
- Merlin - He is the magician of Camelot. Merlin has promised not to use magic anymore after a bad accident. He thinks science is safer. Merlin is obsessed with inventing flying machines, but they usually just land in Camelot's moat. He has a magic ball that shows him what's happening in the kingdom. He is the only one who knows Elenora is "Sir Knight" and helps teach her. Merlin is played by Ian Lindsay.
- "Sir Knight" - This is the mysterious knight who shows up when there's trouble. Sir Knight's true identity is a very big secret. No one except Merlin knows that Sir Knight is actually Princess Elenora. Many people, including Will and Juan, admire Sir Knight. Merlin says that Elenora's late mother, Guinevere, was the previous "Sir Knight." It seems this hero role is passed down through the women in the family.
The Knights of the Round Table
At the start of each episode, King Arthur calls out the names of his knights.
- Sir Lancelot – He is the proud and supposedly "bravest" knight. But he is actually very shallow and a bit of a coward. He often makes fun of Sir Gadabout. However, Sir Gadabout usually gets the last laugh in the end. Sir Lancelot is played by Damien Goodwin.
- Sir Prise – He is a foreign exchange knight from Japan. He is an expert in martial arts. He often appears suddenly out of nowhere, which scares the other knights. His name sounds like the word "surprise." Sir Prise is played by Don Klass.
- Sir Prano/Sir Real – These two are twin knights. Sir Prano speaks with a very high-pitched voice. Sir Real often says strange or unusual things when the knights are making plans. Sir Real has a mustache like the famous artist Salvador Dalí. The picture on his shield is a fish. Their names are plays on the words "soprano" (a high singing voice) and "surreal" (dreamlike or strange). They are played by Dickon Tolson.
- Sir Tificate – His name is a play on the word "certificate." He is played by Joseph Mawle.
- Sir Gestion – He is a very well-spoken knight with a unique sense of humor. His name is a play on the word "suggestion." He is played by Richard James.
