The first restaurant opened in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1957. It was started by Wendell Swartz and called Pizza King. Later, in 1965, Wendell's brother, Robert Swartz, started a separate chain in Muncie, Indiana. This new chain also used the Pizza King name.

In 1966, Robert's chain began to grow outside of Indiana. For these new locations, they used the name "Sir Pizza." Today, both chains still use the Pizza King name inside Indiana. Outside of Indiana, they are known as Sir Pizza.

You can find Sir Pizza restaurants in many states. These include North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.

What Makes Sir Pizza Special?

Sir Pizza is famous for its special way of making pizza. Their slogan, "Good to the Very Edge," tells you a lot about it. Unlike many pizzas, Sir Pizza pies have almost no traditional crust. The cheese, sauce, and toppings go all the way to the very edge of the pizza.

Another unique thing about Sir Pizza is their pepperoni. Instead of using sliced pepperoni, they grind it into small crumbles. These crumbles are spread evenly over the whole pizza. It's a lot like how sausage is used on a pizza.
