Siún Nic Gearailt (born September 14, 1971) is a well-known news presenter in Ireland. She works for RTÉ and TG4, which are major Irish TV and radio broadcasters. Siún is famous for presenting news in both Irish and English.
She presents Nuacht RTÉ and Nuacht TG4, which are Irish-language news programs. She has also presented many English news shows for RTÉ. These include the Six One News and the Nine O'Clock News. Siún has also read news bulletins on RTÉ Radio.

Early Life and School
Siún Nic Gearailt grew up in Feothanach, a Gaeltacht area in western County Kerry. This means Irish was her first language. Her family owned a local pub there.
She lived in Germany for several years and speaks German very well. Siún studied Irish and German at University College Galway (UCG).
Her Career in News
After finishing college in 1995, Siún started her career in radio. She worked at a local station called Clare FM. There, she was a researcher and a reporter. She also worked for RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.
Starting at TG4
In 1996, a new Irish language TV station called TnaG (now TG4) began. Siún was one of the first journalists to work there. She reported from many places, especially in the west of Ireland. She covered important events like the aftermath of the Omagh bombing. She also reported from Germany before the euro currency was introduced.
Siún also reported on the work of Irish missionaries in Nigeria. She helped present the inauguration of Mary McAleese as the 8th President of Ireland. This special event was broadcast live from Dublin Castle.
Moving to RTÉ
In 2003, RTÉ asked Siún to present a show called Seachtain. This was a weekly program about local issues. Soon after, she became the main anchor for Nuacht RTÉ, the Irish news on RTÉ. She continued to present Seachtain for a few more years.
From 2006, Siún started presenting other news programs for RTÉ. She has presented all the main news bulletins. These include the Six One News and the Nine O'Clock News.
More recently, in 2013, she presented a special tribute. It honored the writer and musician Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé after he passed away. In 2015, Siún presented Nuacht RTÉ from Westminster during the British General Election. For the 2016 Irish General Election, she presented live broadcasts. These were from Galway, Kerry, and Taoiseach Enda Kenny's area in Mayo.
Other Activities
Siún Nic Gearailt won the first RTÉ Personalities' GAA Prediction League. She beat Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, who is famous for GAA commentary. Readers of RSVP magazine also voted her Kerry Woman of the Year. The RTÉ Guide voted her one of their Top 5 most liked presenters.
She sometimes hosts charity and cultural events.
Personal Life
Siún Nic Gearailt married fellow news presenter Ailbhe Ó Monacháin in December 2007. He is from Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal. They separated in 2014.
