Skimo facts for kids

Skimo is a fun comedy TV show from Mexico. It was the first Nickelodeon sitcom made in Mexico! Nickelodeon Latin America and Macias Group International created it. The show first aired on May 15, 2006. It was on at 8:00 pm for the first two seasons. Later, it moved to 6:00 pm on Mondays. You could also catch reruns during the summer and fall. The catchy opening song, "Skimo Es el Lugar" ("Skimo Is the Place"), is sung by the band Motel.

About the Skimo Show

Skimo tells the story of two friends, Fito and Tavo. They had a big dream: to open their very own shop! They made that dream come true, and their shop, called Skimo, became known as "the coolest place in the neighborhood." Skimo is a restaurant that sells super creative and yummy foods. Imagine trying a strawberry milkshake, mango on a stick with chamoy sauce, or even vanilla ice cream stuffed inside a pepper!

Meet the Skimo Characters

Fito (Daniel Tovar)

Fito is one of the main characters and the "cool guy" of the show. He might not get the best grades at school, but he's really good at sports. He sees himself as "the coolest dude around." Fito often comes up with strange ideas to make Skimo even better. He loves rock, hip-hop, and beatbox music. Fito is a big dreamer and often talks about his fantasies as if they are real. He is 16 years old. You can easily spot Fito by his unique surfer-afro hair and his skateboard-style clothes.

Tavo Nachón (Miguel Santa Rita)

Tavo is Fito's best friend and business partner. He's the smart one in the duo, and his cleverness is super important for Skimo to do well. Tavo has a secret crush on Úrsula. He's a bit shy and is sometimes called a "geek" because he loves things to be neat, organized, and super clean. Tavo often uses more advanced words than Fito because he's so smart. His last name, "Nachon," was revealed in the first episode.

Tavo is very different from Fito, but that's probably why they are such good friends! He likes to wear casual clothes and hates getting sick. Tavo is 17 years old. By the end of season 2, his parents get divorced, and he has to move away. In season 3, he spends a lot of time with his new girlfriend, Cris. This makes Úrsula quite jealous, but it's hinted that Tavo might still have feelings for Úrsula. Tavo's name might come from the Spanish word "bonachón," which means "good-natured."

Don Filemón (Pedro Romo)

Don Filemón used to own the pizzeria that was in the spot where Skimo is now. Fito and Tavo decided to rent the whole place from him to open their shop. Don Filemón loves to tell stories about his travels around the world or his traveling family. But no one really believes his tales!

Fátima (Claudia Bollat)

Fatima is the amazing cook at Skimo. She makes all the delicious dishes and helps out a lot. She's a very imaginative person and loves to feel needed. Sometimes, she mixes two different recipes together, creating the unique foods Skimo is famous for. When an order is ready, she shouts really loudly, "Sale un (order) para la mesa (number of the table)!" This means "Ready some... (order)... for table number... (table number)!"

Fatima also has a secret identity called Super Fat! She's a famous Lucha Libre wrestler. She became a wrestler to get back at her ex-boyfriend, Nitro, because he wouldn't drink one of her strawberry milkshakes. Later, they found out Nitro was actually allergic to strawberries, so they sorted things out and got back together.

Nora and Nori (Alejandra and Avelina Vazquez)

Nora and Nori are 16-year-old twins who are often the "bad guys" in the show. They are very boastful, annoying, selfish, and irritating. They always want Skimo to fail and try to make Fito and Tavo's lives difficult. They always call each other "twinie" and shout "twin power" when they have a new idea or plan. Also, whenever they hear something shocking, they yell "Oh Please!" Everyone in the show often mixes them up.

Úrsula (Tatiana Martinez)

Úrsula is the girl who always tries to do the right thing. She's a very good friend to Fito and Tavo, but she doesn't realize that Tavo has a crush on her. Úrsula is super smart and can fix almost any gadget. She's really cool and sometimes seems a bit gothic or punk. She always encourages Fito and Tavo to use their brains to solve problems. Úrsula is brave and fearless, the complete opposite of Nora and Nori. She sometimes even bangs Nora and Nori's heads together! In Season two, she adds red highlights to her hair. Úrsula is 16 years old.

In season two, Úrsula starts to like Fito, and it seems he likes her too, even though they argue a lot. But their crush doesn't last long. From season 3 onwards, she starts to like Tavo and tries many times to get him away from Cris. In the very last episode of the show, Úrsula finishes high school and agrees to start a romantic relationship with Tavo.

Shi (Paul Cortinas)

Shi is a great example of someone who loves video games! He came with a super expensive arcade machine that Fito bought. Fito thought it was a great deal because it had 3-D graphics and was cheap. Shi is always playing on the arcade machine. The few times he leaves it, he's playing handheld video games. He never lets anyone touch the arcade when he's playing, except for Shila. In one episode, he even won a trophy for being the best gamer in the country! No one really knows much about this 12-year-old boy. At first, everyone thought Shi couldn't speak, but in the last episode, it's revealed that he can!

Mucho Mucho (Oswaldo Ibarra)

Mucho Mucho is a person who can do many different jobs, a true jack-of-all-trades. He helps supply Skimo with everything they need. He loves to say his name a lot and talks very fast. You might also see him working as a policeman, plumber, doctor, or even a surgeon! He always has everything needed in his amazing, never-ending bag. His name means "A lot A lot" or "Very Very" in Spanish.

Other Skimo Characters

Salvador

Salvador is a young boy whom Tavo helped during a Christmas episode. Tavo gave him the Christmas Star from the top of the tree. In another episode, Tavo gave Salvador a winning ticket for a money contest. Tavo even put on a special show just for Salvador at Christmas, even though Nora and Nori tried to ruin it. Salvador still loved it!

Cris Long

Cris is Tavo's girlfriend and crush from season 3 onwards. She collects wrestling masks, just like Tavo. She is also Nora and Nori's cousin. She almost married Tavo at the Kermes Fair, but Nora and Nori stopped them just before Tavo could say yes. Karen Sandoval plays Cris.

Aquiles Boy

Aquiles Boy is the twins' bodyguard. He is also the nephew of Nitro, the wrestler who was defeated by Super-Fat (Fatima) in the "Arena Skimo" episode. His name sounds like the Spanish phrase "Aquí les voy," which means "Here I come."

Tavini

Tavini is Tavo's magician friend. His magic tricks almost never work correctly!

Nicole

Nicole is a French teenager who goes to Fito and Tavo's school. Fito immediately liked her when she arrived. He decided to use his low grades in French class as an excuse to get tutoring from her. Nicole only appeared in the episode 'French 101'.

Fulvio

Fulvio "Caradura" is one of Fito's rivals. He has a skater band and is seen as a "tough guy" in the neighborhood. He first appeared briefly in the very first episode. Later, in the episode Hang Em' High," he made his full debut. After bothering Fito, who was dating Fulvio's sister Andrea, Tavo decided to give Fulvio a "mega wedgie." In the episode "Boys Will be Girls," Tavo dressed up as a girl, and Fulvio fell in love with "her." When Fulvio told the story of the mega-wedgie Tavo gave him, Fito (who was also disguised as a girl) got his revenge by giving Fulvio another mega wedgie!

Evil Albatross Skaters Gang

This is Fulvio's skater gang. They sometimes come to Skimo and cause trouble, and they also give wedgies to Fito and Tavo. Both the twins and Fito tried to join the gang in the episode "Of Surprises And Skates." One of the gang members is also known for loving kittens and writing poetry.

Andrea

Andrea is Fulvio's sister. Úrsula said she was a bit of a flirt. Fito dated her for a short time.

Deyanira

Deyanira is Cris's friend. She fell in love with Fito, but Fito didn't like her back. She even married Fito at the Kermes Fair! Fito couldn't get out of the marriage unless he took the "wedding ring" off his finger, but it was stuck. When Fito finally broke her heart, she got a makeover and entered the "Miss Skimo" contest. She pretended to be an international supermodel, and Fito immediately developed a crush on her!

El Chavo (The Chilindrina)

She is an actress that Tavo and Don Filemon hired to pretend to be Don Filemon's niece. This way, Fito would be busy taking care of her while they planned his birthday party. She pretended to have a crush on Fito, even though he didn't feel the same way.

Heicker

Heicker is Tavo's brother. He's a bit distracted but has many girlfriends. At the end of the episode "Oh Brother!", he saves Tavo from an explosion during one of Tavo's magic tricks. Heicker thinks Tavo likes him, but Tavo is always jealous of him.

Tato

Tato appeared briefly in the episode "Goodbye Tavo." He became Fito's new best friend and partner but was fired for having a crush on Nora and Nori.

Super Fat

Super Fat is Fatima's wrestling name and her other personality. She has appeared in the "Arena Skimo" episode and the "Mucho Mucho Is A Go Go" episode.

Shila

Shila is another person who loves video games. She has a crush on Shi and talks more than him (he almost never talks!). Shi also has a crush on her.

Churritos

Churritos is a fluffy doll dog. He appears in a few episodes of Skimo. He seems to be Fito's toy, but it's not fully explained in the show. His famous saying is Hola, soy Churritos, ¿quieres ser mi amigo? (Hi, I'm Churritos, wanna be my friend?). His name is a play on a popular Mexican food called churro.

There are a few jokes that happen over and over again in the show:

• Whenever Uuuu's name is called, he jumps out of his fishbowl!
• Úrsula often bangs Nora and Nori's heads together when they bother her.
• Many characters call Don Filemón "Don File," which always makes him annoyed.
