María Antonieta Gómez Rodríguez (born 4 December 1949), known as María Antonieta de las Nieves, is a famous Mexican actress, comedian, and singer. She is best known for playing La Chilindrina. This character was one of the main stars of the popular TV show El Chavo del Ocho.

Early Life and Beginnings
María Antonieta de las Nieves was born in Mexico City, Mexico. Her parents had moved there from Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit. She was the youngest of seven children. Her family owned a clothing store for women.
She started her acting career very young. Her first movie was Pulgarcito in 1957. She was only 8 years old when she began working as a voice actress. She gave her voice to many cartoon characters. These included Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. She also voiced Eddie Munster from The Munsters. Other roles included Batgirl from Batman and Invisible Woman from Fantastic Four. Her first TV show was Estafa de amor in 1961.
Becoming La Chilindrina
María Antonieta de las Nieves became very famous for her role as La Chilindrina. This was in the TV show El Chavo del Ocho. She also played a main role in El Chapulín Colorado until 1973.
She was working as a voice actress when Chespirito, the show's creator, heard her speak. He thought her voice was perfect for the Chilindrina character. He offered her a job on his new TV program, and she accepted.
Both El Chavo del Ocho and El Chapulín Colorado became huge hits. They were popular across Latin America, in New Zealand, and the United States. The shows were even translated into many other languages. The actors from Chavo and Chapulín traveled a lot. Even after the shows stopped filming, they continued to be shown in many countries.
In 1994, she starred in Aquí está la Chilindrina. In this show, she lived in a convent with nuns and orphan girls. It was very successful, even though it only ran for a short time. She also played an older aunt named Dulce Amado in the TV show Dame Chocolate in 2007. In 2012, she was a contestant on the dance show Mira Quién Baila. She also voiced Vanellope von Schweetz in the Spanish version of Wreck-It Ralph (2012).
Legal Battle for Her Character
In 2003, María Antonieta de las Nieves won an important legal case. This battle was against Chespirito, the creator of El Chavo del Ocho. She won the right to play La Chilindrina in public whenever she wanted. She also gained the rights to the character she played.
Chespirito owned the rights to most of the other characters from his shows. Because of this lawsuit, La Chilindrina is the only main character from the series who does not appear in the animated show El Chavo Animado. She is also not in its video game, El Chavo Kart.
Achievements and Recognition
In November 2021, María Antonieta de las Nieves and her character, La Chilindrina, were recognized by Guinness World Records. She received the award for being the actress who played the same role for the longest time. This was from 1971 to 2020.
