Sofía Reyes's Music Journey
Early Life and Her Start
Sofía Reyes was born in Monterrey, a city in northern Mexico. She started singing and playing the piano when she was just ten years old. Two years later, when she was twelve, she began sharing videos of herself singing cover songs on YouTube. Many people noticed her videos, including the famous Latin American singer Prince Royce.
Prince Royce was so impressed that he signed Sofía to his new music label, D'León Records. Sofía was the very first artist to join this label, which Prince Royce created with Warner Music Latina. Their goal was to help young, talented artists grow. In 2013, Sofía released her first song, "Now Forever," which featured American rapper Khleo Thomas.
Big Songs and Collaborations
In August 2014, Sofía worked with Puerto Rican singer Wisin and German producer Toby Gad to write and release the song "Muévelo". The next year, she launched her song "Conmigo (Rest of Your Life)." The music video for "Conmigo" featured American singer and actor Kendall Schmidt from the bands Big Time Rush and Heffron Drive.
In early 2016, Sofía released "Solo Yo," a heartfelt song and her first time singing with her mentor, Prince Royce. Both artists appeared in the official music video. Later, she released the super popular song "1, 2, 3" with Jason Derulo and De la Ghetto. In March 2019, Sofía released "R.I.P." with Rita Ora and Anitta. That same year, Spanish singer Beret released a duet version of his song "Lo siento" (which means "I'm sorry" in English) featuring Sofía.
Sofía has continued to work with many different artists. On March 6, 2020, she teamed up with American singer-songwriter Lauv for the song "El Tejano," which was on Lauv's album How I'm Feeling. A music video for the song was released in May, showing Sofía singing on stage at a Mexican restaurant. She also collaborated with Michael Bublé and the Barenaked Ladies on "Gotta Be Patient" in April 2020. This song was part of a benefit concert called Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble, which helped support Food Banks Canada and front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. More recently, on May 12, 2023, Sofía released the single "How You Samba" with Kris Kross Amsterdam and British rapper Tinie Tempah.
