Musical Journey
How It All Started
Sofía Reyes was born in Monterrey, a large city in northern Mexico. Her love for music began early. When she was just ten years old, she started singing and learning to play the piano.
A couple of years later, she decided to share her talent with the world. She began posting videos on YouTube of herself singing cover versions of popular songs. Her videos became very popular and caught the attention of many people, including the famous Latin singer Prince Royce.
Getting a Record Deal
Prince Royce was so impressed with Sofía's talent that he signed her to his new music label, D'León Records. She was the very first artist to join the label. This was a big step for Sofía, as the label was a partnership with Warner Music Latina, a major company in the music industry.
In 2013, Sofía released her first single, "Now Forever," which featured the American rapper Khleo Thomas. This was the official start of her professional music career.
Rise to Stardom
In 2014, Sofía worked with Puerto Rican singer Wisin to co-write the song "Muévelo". The song was a hit and helped her gain more fans. The next year, she released "Conmigo (Rest of Your Life)." The music video for this song featured Kendall Schmidt from the band Big Time Rush.
In 2016, she released her first ballad, "Solo Yo," a duet with her mentor, Prince Royce. This song showed a different, more emotional side of her music.
Her biggest hit came in 2018 with "1, 2, 3," a fun and catchy song featuring Jason Derulo and De la Ghetto. The song became an international success. She followed this up in 2019 with "R.I.P.", another major collaboration with Rita Ora and Anitta.
Recent Music
Sofía continues to release new music and work with artists from around the world. In 2020, she was featured on the song "El Tejano" from American singer Lauv's album, How I'm Feeling.
That same year, she participated in a special Canadian benefit concert called Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble. She performed the song "Gotta Be Patient" with Michael Bublé and the Barenaked Ladies to support healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
