Sofia Tarasova is a talented singer and actress from Ukraine. She was born on March 31, 2001. Many people know her for representing Ukraine in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013. She sang the song "We Are One" and came in second place! Sofia was also a member of the Ukrainian girl group Nu Virgos.

Sofia's Early Life and Talents

Sofia Mikhaylivna Tarasova was born in Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. Her parents were from Russia. Sofia showed a love for music and singing very early. When she was only two and a half years old, she already had a "perfect pitch." This means she could tell musical notes apart very well.

Because of her amazing talent, she joined a special group for gifted children. This group was at the famous Reinhold M. Gliere Music College in Kyiv. When she was four, Sofia also started studying music, dance, and art at the Academy of Arts.

How Did Sofia Start Acting?

At age six, Sofia joined a show theater called "Chunga-Changa." Here, she took acting classes. She even got to play main roles in musicals! One of her favorite roles was "Gerda" in the play The Snow Queen. When she was ten, she joined the "PARADIZ" center. There, she continued to learn singing, dancing, modeling, and acting.

What Was Sofia's First Big Win?

In 2012, Sofia won Holos. Dity. This is the children's version of The Voice in Ukraine. That same year, she tried to represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012. She sang "Zhityeviy Pazl" (Puzzle of Life), but she was not chosen that time.

Sofia also represented Ukraine for the first time at the Euro Pop Contest. This is a singing competition in Berlin, Germany. It is similar to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Junior Eurovision Success

In 2013, Sofia won another big competition called "New Wave Junior." She also won the "Eurovision Music Academy." These wins showed how talented she was.

On August 2, 2013, Sofia competed again to represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013. This time, she won with her song "We Are One"! She then went on to represent her country. At the main contest, her song came in second place with 121 points. This was a huge achievement!

New Songs and More Competitions

In 2014, Sofia released a new song called "Ver' mne" (Believe me). She also released a music video for it. Later that year, she helped announce the points for Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

Sofia competed in the Euro Pop Contest again in 2014. She won first place in her age group (10–13 years old)! She was also supposed to be a judge for Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, but she could not do it.

Sofia on The Voice in Russia

In 2018, Sofia decided to try out for Golos. This is the Russian version of The Voice. She sang "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston. All four coaches wanted her on their team! She chose to join Team Konstantin. Sofia did very well in the show, making it to the semi-finals.

Solo Music and Group Work

After The Voice, Sofia started performing under the name SOFA. She released several new songs. Some of these include "Мы стоим у воды" (We're standing by the water) and "Киев-Москва" (Kiev-Moscow).

In 2020, Sofia joined the famous Ukrainian pop group Nu Virgos. She sang with them until February 2022, when the group stopped performing together. On September 8, 2023, she released a new song called "Почему я?" (Why me?) with Konstantin Meladze.
