The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was a big music competition for young singers. It was the tenth time this contest happened! It took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 1, 2012.

The show was held at the Heineken Music Hall. A Dutch TV company called AVRO helped put the whole event together. This was the second time the Netherlands hosted the contest. They also hosted it in 2007 in Rotterdam. The main idea or "motto" for the 2012 contest was "Break The Ice".

Who Won? The Results!

Twelve different countries took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Each country sent a young artist or group to sing their special song. Here's how everyone placed:

The winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was Anastasiya Petryk from  Ukraine! She sang a beautiful song called "Nebo," which means "Sky." Ukraine got a total of 138 points.

Coming in second place was Funkids from  Georgia with their song "Funky Lemonade." They scored 103 points. The Compass Band from  Armenia took third place with "Sweetie Baby" and 98 points.

How the Points Were Given

In Junior Eurovision, countries vote for their favorite songs. They give points from 1 to 8, 10, and then 12 points to the song they liked the most. To make sure no country ended up with zero points, every country automatically started with 12 points!

Countries Giving 12 Points

The "12 points" are the highest score a country can give. Here's who gave their top points to whom:

Number of 12 Points Recipient Nation Voting Nation
8  Ukraine Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Israel, Moldova, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden
2  Armenia Georgia, Ukraine
1  Albania Azerbaijan
 Georgia Kids Jury
 Sweden Albania
  • Every country automatically received 12 points at the start of voting. This rule makes sure no country gets zero points.

Who Announced the Points?

Each country had a special person, often a young person, who announced their country's points. They were called "spokespersons."

New Countries and Those Who Left

Some countries joined the contest for the first time in 2012. These were  Albania,  Azerbaijan, and  Israel.

Unfortunately, some countries that had participated before decided not to join this year. These included  Bulgaria,  Latvia,  Lithuania, and  Macedonia.
