Solitair's Music Journey

Early Days and "The Circle"

In the late 1990s, Solitair was part of a hip-hop group called "The Circle". In 1998, he released his first single, "Silver Surfer". It was a 12-inch record.

Starting "Silver House and the Girl"

Early in his career, Solitair and fellow rapper Kardinal Offishall created a production company. They called it "Silver House and the Girl" (S.H.A.G.) in 2000. As a team, they mostly produced music for local Canadian hip-hop and R&B artists.

Solitair's first big international success was producing Kardinal's song "BaKardi Slang". This song was from the album Quest for Fire: Firestarter, Vol. 1, released in 2001. Also in 2001, Solitair released a music video for his own song "Easy 2 Slip”. This video was nominated for an award in 2002. It was considered for Best Independent Video at the MuchMusic Video Awards. It was also nominated for Best Rap Recording at the 2002 Juno Awards.

Black Jays and New Projects

By 2004, Solitair and Kardinal changed their label's name to Black Jays. They produced a remixed version of Jay-Z's The Black Album. They called their version The Black Jays Album.

When Kardinal made a mixtape called Kill Bloodcott Bill, Solitair produced the main song “Kill Bill”. He also rapped on some other songs on the mixtape. Solitair also helped create the intro music for the sports show NBA XL. This show featured basketball highlights on Rogers Sportsnet.

Working with Cipha Sounds

In 2006, Solitair started working with Cipha Sounds from Hot 97 radio station. The songs they produced together were made under the name “More Fire”. They have produced music for artists like Nina Sky, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, and Trey Songz.

Giving Back to the Community

Solitair also volunteers his time to speak with students. He visits high schools in Toronto to talk to students who might be facing challenges. He also teaches audio production part-time at Toronto Metropolitan University.
