Sophie Lowe (born on June 5, 1990) is a talented actress and singer-songwriter from Australia. She is well-known for her roles in movies like Beautiful Kate, Autumn Blood, After the Dark, Adore, Road Train, Above Suspicion, Medieval, and Blow the Man Down. Sophie has also starred in popular TV shows such as Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, The Slap, The Returned, and The Beautiful Lie.

Early Life and Moving to Australia

Sophie Lowe was born in Sheffield, England. In 2000, when she was 10 years old, her family moved to Australia. As a teenager, she briefly worked as a model. However, she soon decided that acting was what she truly wanted to do.

Sophie Lowe started her acting career in short films. These included Kindle, where she played the main character Hayley, and Mirage, which was shown at the Montreal World Film Festival. She also appeared in several TV commercials. She finished her studies at The McDonald College in 2008.

Her first big role was playing Kate in the movie Beautiful Kate, which came out in 2009. For this role, she was nominated for an AFI Award for Best Lead Actress. This film was a finalist at the Tropfest short film festival in Sydney. Sophie and Rhys had also worked together before in the 2013 movie After the Dark.

From 2013 to 2014, Sophie played the main character, Alice, in the TV series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. This show was a spin-off from the popular series Once Upon a Time.

In 2014, Sophie was chosen to play Lena in the TV series The Returned. In 2015, she starred in The Beautiful Lie, an Australian TV series inspired by the famous novel Anna Karenina. She played the character Kitty Ballantyne. She also filmed Waiting for the Miracle to Come, which was the first feature film by documentary filmmaker Lian Lunson.

In 2016, Sophie joined the cast of the Australian independent film Bloom. She also appeared in Philip Noyce's thriller movie Above Suspicion.

In 2022, Sophie starred in the Czech historical drama movie Medieval alongside Ben Foster. This movie was directed by Petr Jákl and was the most expensive Czech film ever made. Sophie is also set to star with actress Louisa Krause in an upcoming film called "The Dive". As of April 2025, Sophie was announced for the film Posthumous.

Since 2016, Sophie has released several individual songs. In August 2016, she released a song called "Mean" with TWINKIDS. She also appeared in the music video for "Never Be Like You" by Flume and Kai, which has been viewed over 40 million times online.

In October 2017, she released the single "Trust". This song was featured in TV shows like The Bold Type and Charmed. As of November 2022, "Trust" was her most popular song on Spotify, with over 1 million streams.

In September 2018, she released the song "Taught You How To Feel". The music video for this song was also directed by Bonnie Wright, making it their second collaboration.

On May 11, 2021, Sophie Lowe released the single "I Don't Want You Around". She directed and edited the music video herself. After three years, Sophie returned with the indie pop song "From the Inside", which was released on January 24, 2023. The official music video for this song features Australian actor and model James Frecheville.

Sophie Lowe has shared that she focuses on both acting and music. She tries to make as much music as possible when she has free time from acting. She has said that she would not stop acting for her music career because acting is a very important part of her life.
