South Weber (pronounced WEE-ber) is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. It is located on the northeastern edge of the county. South Weber is part of the larger Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Area. In 2010, about 6,051 people lived here. By 2018, the population was estimated to be around 7,518.

History of South Weber
South Weber has an interesting past with a few notable events.
The Morrisite War
In 1862, South Weber was the location of a conflict known as the Morrisite War. On June 13, 1862, an army of about 500 men placed cannons on the bluffs overlooking the city. These cannons were aimed at a group led by Joseph Morris. The conflict lasted for three days. It ended with the deaths of Joseph Morris, John Banks, and a few others. After seeing their leaders fall, the remaining members of the Morrisite group gave up.
Bigfoot Sightings in South Weber
South Weber is also known for a week of Bigfoot sightings. This happened in February 1980. For one week, people living in the area reported seeing signs of the legendary Sasquatch. Many residents said they saw the creature while feeding horses. Others reported smelling strange, strong odors. Large patches of unusual fur were also found around the community. Even though no animal was ever found, the story of Bigfoot in South Weber continues to be told.
South Weber's National Recognition
In 2009, Business Week magazine recognized South Weber. They named it the sixth best suburb in the entire country. This was a big honor for the small city.
Geography and Location
South Weber is found in the northeastern part of Davis County. Its northern border touches the Weber County line. Nearby cities include Uintah to the north and Washington Terrace and Riverdale to the northwest. To the south, you'll find Layton. Hill Air Force Base is located along the southwest side of the city.
Land and Water Areas
The United States Census Bureau states that South Weber covers a total area of about 12.2 square kilometers (4.7 square miles). Most of this area is land. Only about 0.1 square kilometers (0.04 square miles), or 1.20%, is water. The Weber River forms most of the city's northern boundary.
Street System
Even though South Weber is in Davis County, its streets follow a different system. The city's street grid is based on the system used in Weber County to the north. This system uses the meridians of Ogden as its guide.
