Spring Coulee is a small community, called a hamlet, in southern Alberta, Canada. It's part of Cardston County. You can find it about 2 kilometers east of Highway 5. It's also about 42 kilometers southwest of Lethbridge, a larger city.

History of Spring Coulee

Spring Coulee used to be a busy place. It had a general store, a hotel, and three tall grain elevators. There was also a pool hall, a bank, a church, a community hall, and a school.

Over time, farms around the hamlet grew bigger. Many people moved away, and Spring Coulee became quieter. The general store, hotel, grain elevators, pool hall, bank, and community hall were all taken down.

The old church building was moved near Glenwood. It is now a private home. The old four-room school building is still standing. It has also been turned into a private home. Several other homes remain in Spring Coulee. In the last 20 years, a few new homes have even been built.

Today, two main landmarks stand out. There is a plant that cleans seeds for farming. There is also a building for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A new business called The Wood Shack has also opened. It sells firewood and camping supplies. This is helpful for campers at the nearby St. Mary Campground.

Population of Spring Coulee

In 2008, Cardston County counted the people living in Spring Coulee. The population was 43 people.
