Springfield is a lovely suburb in Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It's known for being very green and having hills. You can find it in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges, about 8 kilometers (5 miles) south-east of the main city center. Springfield is a special area because it sits on the "hills-face zone," which means it has amazing views over the flat plains of Adelaide. Many of the most valuable homes in South Australia are located here.

Springfield is surrounded by other suburbs. To the north are Kingswood and Netherby. To the west, you'll find Torrens Park and Mitcham. To the south, it borders Mitcham and Brown Hill Creek. To the east, you'll find Leawood Gardens and Urrbrae.

History of Springfield

The land where Springfield is located was first bought in 1841 by Richard F. Newland. He was the manager of the Bank of Australasia.

Later, around 1870, a man named Charles B. Hardy made many additions to a large house called "Springfield." He also created beautiful gardens and bought more land for the estate.

About 50 years ago, a company called Springfield Limited bought the area from Mr. Frank Rymill. They planned to divide the land into smaller blocks for homes. Their plan was very new and different from other suburban developments in South Australia at the time.
