St. Ann or Saint Ann is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 13,019 people lived there.

History of St. Ann
The city of St. Ann was officially started in 1948. However, its development began earlier, around 1942.
A man named Charles F. Vatterott helped build many homes and businesses in the area. He created the community as a place for families of workers. These workers were employed in nearby factories that made things for defense during wartime.
St. Ann was special because it was one of the few housing projects for defense workers that grew into a lasting town. The first homes built were named in honor of Saint Ann. She is known as the mother of the Virgin Mary.
Geography of St. Ann
St. Ann is located in the central part of the St. Louis area. It is very close to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. This airport is a major travel hub.
The city shares its borders with several other towns. These include Bridgeton, Edmundson, and Overland.
St. Ann covers a total area of about 3.18 square miles (8.17 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
People of St. Ann
St. Ann is home to a diverse group of people. In 2020, the city had a population of 13,019 residents. The population density was about 4,133 people per square mile.
The community includes people from many different backgrounds. About 54.8% of the residents were white. Around 29.4% were Black or African American. There were also people of Asian, Native American, and Pacific Islander backgrounds. About 7.8% of residents identified with two or more races.
Around 7.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino. Many different cultures and traditions make St. Ann a vibrant place to live.
The average age of people in St. Ann in 2020 was 35.4 years old. About 22.6% of the population was under 18 years old. This means there are many young people and families in the city.
Education in St. Ann
Students in St. Ann attend schools in two different school districts. These are the Pattonville School District and the Ritenour School District. Both districts work to provide education for the city's children.
The St. Louis County Library also has a branch in St. Ann. It is called the Rock Road Branch. This library offers books, computers, and other resources for everyone in the community.
Business and Shopping
St. Ann was once home to Northwest Plaza. This was the largest enclosed shopping mall in Missouri. It had many stores, including 9 large department stores and 210 smaller shops.
However, the mall closed in 2010. Most of it was taken down in 2013. In its place, a new area called the Crossings at Northwest was built. This area has a mix of stores and offices.
For example, Menard's Home Improvement Stores opened a large store there in 2015. Also, Charter Communications has a big call and technology center at the Crossings. It employs over 1,000 people. Save-a-Lot Corporation, a grocery company, also has its main office there.

The City of St. Ann provides many important services for its residents. These services help make the city a great place to live.
Parks and Recreation
The city has a large Community Center that is 50,000 square feet. It also has a 9-hole golf course that covers 55 acres. St. Ann has six parks for outdoor fun. These parks are Tiemeyer, Livingston & Wright, Buder, St. Ann, Schafer, and Mary Ridge. The city is also building a new, modern outdoor Aquatic Center in Tiemeyer Park.
Public Services
The Public Services Department takes care of the city's buildings and streets. They manage 42 miles of city streets. They also have a yearly plan to improve and maintain the streets.
Police Department
St. Ann has its own police department. It has 47 police officers and 17 civilian employees. The department is recognized for its high standards by a group called CALEA.
The police department also helps other nearby police agencies. They provide 911 dispatching services through the North Central Dispatch Cooperative. This dispatch center is also highly recognized for its quality.
The police work closely with the local school districts, Ritenour and Pattonville. They place School Resource Officers in all public schools in St. Ann. This helps keep students safe.
