Saint Joseph, often shortened to St. Joseph, is a small city in Lawrence County, Tennessee, United States. In 2020, about 790 people lived there. It is a quiet community with a rich history.

A Look Back in Time
The St. Joseph area was settled in the early 1870s. Many of the first people to live here were German Catholic immigrants. These families built the St. Joseph Catholic Church. This church is still an important part of the community today. By the late 1880s, St. Joseph had grown. It had about twenty-five homes, a school for children, and a local store.
Where is Saint Joseph?
St. Joseph is located at 35°2′6″N 87°30′8″W / 35.03500°N 87.50222°W. The city sits on a wide, flat area between two valleys. To the west is the Shoal Creek Valley. To the east is the Bluewater Creek Valley. A smaller stream, Little Bluewater Creek, flows right through St. Joseph.
The city's borders reach towards Loretto in the northeast. They also extend south all the way to the state line between Tennessee and Alabama.
U.S. Route 43 is a main road that goes through St. Joseph. This road connects the city to Lawrenceburg to the northeast. It also links St. Joseph to the Muscle Shoals area in the south. Tennessee State Route 227 is another road. It connects St. Joseph to Iron City, which is in the Shoal Creek Valley to the west.
The United States Census Bureau says that St. Joseph covers about 3.6 square miles (9.75 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the city limits.
