St. Luke's Church in Glossop is an Anglican church located in Glossop, Derbyshire, England. Anglican churches are part of the Church of England, which is the main Christian church in England. This church is a special place for people in the community to gather and worship.

History of St. Luke's Church

The church building you see today was officially opened on October 18, 1906. This date is known as St. Luke's Day. The Bishop of Derby, a senior church leader, led the special ceremony.

The church was built thanks to a generous gift from Mrs. S. Wood of Moorfield. It cost about £4,000 to build at that time. This was a very large amount of money over a hundred years ago!

The Church and Its Community

St. Luke's Church is part of a larger area called Whitfield Parish Glossop. It works together with another church, St James' Church Glossop. Both churches are part of the Diocese of Derby, which is a big administrative area for churches in the region.

You can find St. Luke's Church on Fauvel Road. It's only a short walk from the center of Glossop town.

Church Leaders

Churches have leaders who help guide the community. From 2004 to 2010, the main minister at St. Luke's was Rev'd Dr Terry Clark. Since September 2010, Rev'd Brian Magorrian has been the Associate Minister. He is in charge of the St. Luke's Congregation, which means the people who attend services there.
