St Mary Magdalene is a beautiful Church of England church located in Geddington, a village in Northamptonshire, England. It is a very important historical building. This means it is protected because of its special history and architecture.
In 2017, some people thought the church might be a very old holy place called the Shrine of Hagius. However, this idea turned out to be a mistake. It was based on an error when someone copied old writings.
Special Windows
The church has amazing windows, especially the ones at the east end. These windows were designed by a famous artist named Sir Ninian Comper. He was known for creating beautiful stained-glass windows.
Sir Ninian Comper designed windows for many important places. These include Westminster Abbey and the entire Church of St Mary the Virgin, Wellingborough. The main east window at St Mary Magdalene was made early in his career. The window on the southeast side was created much later. You can see how his style changed over 50 years between these two windows.
