Stand Off is a small community in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located within the Blood (Kainai) reserve. A "reserve" is a special area of land set aside for Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Stand Off is found on Highway 2. It is about 43 kilometers (27 miles) southwest of Lethbridge. It is also about 30 kilometers (19 miles) north of Cardston. The people who live in Stand Off are part of the Blackfoot Nation. This nation includes groups in both Canada and the United States. The Blood Tribe (Nation) has the largest land area among all the eleven Numbered Treaties in Canada. These treaties were agreements made between Indigenous peoples and the Canadian government between 1871 and 1921.

Learning in Stand Off
Stand Off is home to Red Crow Community College. This college was started in 1986. It helps people on the reserve get a good education.
Since it opened, more than 2,000 students have graduated from Red Crow Community College. This means that about 16 out of every 100 people on the reserve have graduated from this college.
