Stefanie Fabienne Heinzmann (born March 10, 1989) is a Swiss pop singer and TV star. She became famous in early 2008 after winning a singing contest called SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD. This show was part of Stefan Raab's TV show TV total in Germany.

After winning, Stefanie released her first song, "My Man Is a Mean Man." It quickly became number one in Switzerland. It was also a top ten hit in Austria and Germany. Her first album, Masterplan, came out in March 2008. This album, which mixed pop and soul music, also reached number one in Switzerland. It sold over 30,000 copies, earning a platinum award.

Stefanie Heinzmann has released many successful albums since then. These include Roots to Grow (2009), Stefanie Heinzmann (2012), Chance of Rain (2015), and All We Need Is Love (2019). All these albums reached the top five in Switzerland. Some of her popular songs, like "The Unforgiven", "Diggin' in the Dirt", and "In the End", were top ten hits.

Stefanie is one of the most successful Swiss artists from the late 2000s. She has won many important awards for her music. These include the Prix Walo, the 1LIVE Krone, a Comet, a Swiss Music Award, and a 2009 ECHO Award. Besides singing, Stefanie has also been a coach on TV shows. She was a coach on The Voice of Switzerland and Popstars. She also appeared on The Masked Singer and Sing meinen Song – Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Stefanie Heinzmann was born in Visp, a town in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. She is the only daughter of Berti and Albi Heinzmann-Martig. Her older brother, Claudio Heinzmann, is also a singer-songwriter and music manager. Stefanie went to a special school in Brig for athletes and artists.

In 2005, Stefanie started her music journey as the lead singer of a rock band called Bigfisch. Their first song, "Chumm ins Wallis" (which means "Come to Valais" in Swiss German), became popular locally. A local radio station even voted it the "Biggest Valais Hit of the Year" in 2007.

In the summer of 2007, Stefanie's brother encouraged her to join a TV talent show. It was called SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD and was organized by the German TV channel ProSieben. Stefanie was chosen as one of 20 contestants. She sang classic soul, jazz, and funk songs by artists like Macy Gray and Joss Stone. Her performances helped her reach the final show on January 10, 2008.

In the final, Stefanie sang two songs. One was a cover of "Only So Much Oil in the Ground" by Tower of Power. The other was "My Man Is a Mean Man," a song chosen just for her. The audience voted for her, and Stefanie won the show. She beat the other two finalists, Steffi List and Gregor Meyle. The music video for "My Man Is a Mean Man" was filmed right after the final and shown on German TV a few days later.

Stefanie's winning song, "My Man Is a Mean Man," was released the day after the TV final. It quickly went to number one on the Swiss Singles Chart. It also became a top ten hit in Austria and Germany. The song was played a lot on the radio and helped Stefanie become one of the most successful new artists that year. In Germany, the song sold so many copies that it earned a platinum award.

Her first album, Masterplan, came out on March 7, 2008. It was mainly produced by Paul NZA and Marek Pompetzki. Like her single, the album reached the top ten in Austria and Germany. It also debuted at number one in Switzerland. In Switzerland, it sold over 30,000 copies and received a platinum award. Overall, Masterplan sold more than 300,000 copies across Europe. This success brought Stefanie many awards. These included the Prix Walo, the 1LIVE Krone, a Comet, a Swiss Music Award, and the 2009 ECHO Award.

A new version of the album was released later in 2008. It included a new song, "The Unforgiven," which was a cover of a Metallica song. This song became her second top ten hit in Germany. To support her album, Stefanie went on a concert tour from May to September 2008. She performed in many places across Germany and Switzerland. In September 2009, Stefanie released her second album, Roots to Grow. She worked again with Paul NZA and Marek Pompetzki. The album also featured songs written by famous artists like Joss Stone. It included collaborations with singers such as Gentleman and Ronan Keating. Roots to Grow reached number four on the Swiss Albums Chart. It also made it into the top twenty in Germany. The first song from the album, "No One (Can Ever Change My Mind)," reached number twenty-seven in Switzerland.

Stefanie started working on her third album, Stefanie Heinzmann, in 2010. For this album, she had more time and was able to be more involved in creating the songs. She co-wrote or came up with ideas for many of them. She worked again with NZA and Pompetzki, and also with other talented songwriters like Jamie Cullum. The album was released on March 16, 2012. It reached number three in Switzerland and the top ten in Germany.

The first song from the album, "Diggin' in the Dirt," became her highest-charting song in years. It reached number six in Switzerland. This was her first top ten hit there since "My Man Is a Mean Man." In 2012, it was also announced that Stefanie would be a judge on the first season of The Voice of Switzerland in 2013.

In 2015, Stefanie released her fourth album, Chance of Rain. This album sounded a bit different from her earlier work. She worked with new production teams from Berlin and Sweden. Critics noticed that the album had more electro pop sounds, especially on songs like "Stranger in This World." Chance of Rain became her fourth album in a row to reach the top five in Switzerland. It stayed on the Swiss charts for 39 weeks. It also reached the top twenty in Germany.

The main song from the album, "In the End," became Stefanie's third top ten hit. It reached number nine on the Swiss Singles Chart. In May 2020, she represented Switzerland in the Free European Song Contest. This was a special music competition like Eurovision, organized by the ProSieben network. It was an alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stefanie finished in seventh place.
