Genre(s) Tactical role-playing game

Stella Glow (ステラグロウ) is an exciting Nintendo 3DS game. It's a type of game called a tactical role-playing game. This means you move characters on a grid to fight enemies.

Stella Glow was the last game made by a company called Imageepoch. It was released in Japan by Sega. In North America, Atlus published it. For Europe, Nippon Ichi Software released the game.

The game has cool character designs by Ideolo and Masato Shako. The music was created by Yasunori Mitsuda and Shunsuke Tsuchiya. Many talented people, like Konomi Suzuki and Yukari Tamura, provided voices and singing for the characters.

How to Play Stella Glow

Stella Glow is a tactical role-playing game, much like Imageepoch's Luminous Arc series. In this game, you control characters on a special battle grid. You move them around to fight against enemy characters or creatures.

The battle areas have different heights and are shown from a top-down view. This makes the game feel like you are looking down on a miniature world.

Song Magic and Witches

Special characters called Witches can use "song magic" in battles. This magic is very powerful. Before a Witch can use her song magic, you need to unlock it. To do this, you must enter a Witch's mind and defeat a boss creature inside.

Free Time Activities

When you are not fighting, you have "Free Time." During this time, you can do many things. You can talk to other characters to learn more about the story. You can also take on jobs to earn money. This money helps you buy new items.

You can also make your Witches stronger by "tuning" their skills. Or, you can search the city for useful items. Each of these activities costs "action points." You only have three action points to spend during each "Free Time" session. Other things, like buying equipment or special "orbs" for your characters, do not cost action points.

Story of Stella Glow

Stella Glow takes place in a world where magic comes from songs. This song magic once brought great success to the world. But it also led to problems and wars. Because of this, a powerful God took song magic away from people.

Thousands of years later, song magic returned. It appeared in the hands of five special Witches. One of these Witches is Hilda. She wants to turn the whole world into crystals. Hilda leads a group called the Harbingers.

Standing against Hilda are the Regnant Knights and the other four Witches. You play as Alto, the main hero of the story. Alto lives in a town called Mithra with his friend Lisette. When Mithra is turned into crystals, Alto joins the Regnant Knights. He wants to fix what happened to his home and save the world.

How Stella Glow Was Made

Imageepoch first announced they were making Stella Glow in October 2014. They planned for the game to come out around their company's 10th anniversary.

Hideyuki Mizutani was the producer for the game. Dai Oba was the director. The artwork was created by Ideolo and Masato Shakado. Many voice actors helped by recording over twenty different Song Magic tracks.

In November 2014, Imageepoch finished making Stella Glow.

Publishing Challenges

Imageepoch faced some problems with selling and marketing the game. So, they asked Sega for help. In March 2015, Sega announced that they would publish Stella Glow.

Sadly, in May 2015, Imageepoch had to file for bankruptcy. This meant the company was in serious financial trouble.

Despite this, Sega released a demo for Stella Glow on Japan's Nintendo eShop on May 20. The full game was then released in Japan on June 5, 2015.

North American Release

On June 15, Atlus announced that they would release an English version of the game. It was planned for North American players by the holiday season. Atlus even had Konomi Suzuki record an English version of the game's opening song. The song is called "Hikari no Metamorphopsis."

On October 27, Atlus released a demo for the English version. This demo was available on the North American Nintendo eShop.

Special Editions and Themes

For the North American release, Atlus made a special launch edition of the game. This cool package included a collectible outer box. It also had a soundtrack with music from the game. Plus, it came with a cloth poster and a charm of Bubu. Bubu is a cute pig-like mascot character from the game.

Atlus also created a special theme for Nintendo 3DS owners. If you bought a digital copy of the game from the Nintendo eShop, you got this theme. It showed the Witches Hilda, Lisette, Popo, Sakuya, and Mordimort on the top screen. Bubu appeared on the bottom screen.
