Firefighter Service
Before becoming a famous actor, Steve Buscemi was a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department. He worked at Engine Company No. 55 in Little Italy, Manhattan, from 1980 to 1984. During this time, he was also secretly taking acting classes and trying out stand-up comedy.
After the September 11 attacks in New York City in 2001, Buscemi returned to his old firehouse to volunteer.
