Steven T. Kuykendall (born January 27, 1947 – died January 22, 2021) was an American politician. He was a member of the Republican Party. Steven Kuykendall served in the U.S. House of Representatives for California from 1999 to 2001. This important role meant he helped make laws for the country.
In 1998, he won an election to become a U.S. Representative. He was later defeated in 2000 by Jane Harman. She had held the seat before him.
About Steven Kuykendall

Steven Kuykendall was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. He lived for a long time in the Palos Verdes Peninsula area of California. He went to Oklahoma City University and later earned a special business degree (MBA) from San Diego State University.
Before becoming a politician, Kuykendall served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Marine during the Vietnam War.
His Political Journey
Steven Kuykendall had a busy career in politics. From 1991 to 1994, he was a member of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council. In 1994, he even served as the mayor of the city.
He then became a member of the California State Assembly. He served there from 1994 to 1998. After that, he successfully ran for the U.S. Congress in 1998. He was a U.S. Representative from January 3, 1999, to January 3, 2001.
In 2004, he tried to run for the State Assembly again but was not successful. Later, in 2012, he ran for Congress in a new district but did not win.
His Passing
Steven Kuykendall passed away on January 22, 2021. He was 73 years old. He died in Long Beach, California from a lung condition called pulmonary fibrosis.
