Stewart Henry Stern (born March 22, 1922 – died February 2, 2015) was an American screenwriter. He was famous for writing the movie script for Rebel Without a Cause (1955), which starred James Dean.

During World War II, Stewart Stern was a soldier. He fought in a very important battle called the Battle of the Bulge. For his bravery in the war, he received a special award called the Bronze Star. Because of the cold during the war, his feet were permanently numb from frostbite. His life and work were even featured in a documentary film called Going Through Splat: The Life And Work Of Stewart Stern.
Teaching and Later Years
Stewart Stern loved to share his knowledge with others. He taught a class called "The Personal Connection" in Seattle at TheFilmSchool. He also taught every year at the Sundance Institute, which is a famous place for filmmakers to learn and share their work.
Stewart Stern passed away from cancer in Seattle, Washington, when he was 92 years old.
