Sucker Lake is a lake located in Ontario, Canada. It is found in the northern part of Nipissing District. This lake is about 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles) east of a small railway spot called Diver.
Sucker Lake is part of the huge Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. This means all the water from Sucker Lake eventually flows into the Saint Lawrence River. The lake is also the starting point for Sucker Creek.
Where Does the Water Go?
Sucker Lake gets water from three smaller, unnamed streams. One stream comes from the west, near La Salle Lakes. Another flows in from the north, from the area around Serene Lake. The third stream enters from the east, from another unnamed lake.
The main way water leaves Sucker Lake is through Sucker Creek. This creek flows south into Little Sucker Lake. From there, the water continues its journey through the Jocko River and then into the Ottawa River. Finally, the Ottawa River joins the mighty Saint Lawrence River.
What's Around the Lake?
Sucker Lake has one island located on its western side. A part of the lake's southwest shore touches the border of the Jocko Rivers Provincial Park. This park is a protected natural area.
How to Get There
You can reach Sucker Lake using a smaller road. This road leads northeast from Diver to a community called McLaren's Bay, which is on Lake Timiskaming. There's also another road that branches off and goes southeast to Ontario Highway 63. This point on Highway 63 is about halfway between where the highway crosses the Jocko River and Lake Timiskaming.
