Sue Devaney (born Susan Barber, 2 July 1967) is an English actress. She is famous for playing many different characters on British television. Some of her best-known roles include Debbie Webster in Coronation Street, Rita in Jonny Briggs, Liz Harker in Casualty, and Jane in Dinnerladies.

Early TV Roles

Sue first became well-known for playing Debbie Webster in the popular soap opera Coronation Street. She was on the show from 1984 to 1985. Later, she returned to Coronation Street in 2019 and is still part of the cast.

Another important role for Sue was Rita Briggs in Jonny Briggs, a children's TV show from 1985 to 1987. She also played Liz Harker in the medical drama Casualty from 1994 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000, she was Jane in the comedy series Dinnerladies.

Over the years, Sue has appeared in many other TV shows. In 2009, she played Peggy in the Channel 4 drama Shameless. She also used her voice for a radio play called Normal and Nat on BBC Radio 4.

In 2013, Sue was in the ITV comedy-drama Great Night Out as Linda. She also played Carmel in the BBC comedy drama Being Eileen. That same year, she appeared in the BBC Scotland soap opera River City.
