Early Life and Education
Sujoy Ghosh was born in Kolkata, India. He went to St. James' School there. When he was about 13 years old, his family moved to London.
In London, Sujoy continued his studies. He attended Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. He earned a degree in engineering. Later, he also completed an MBA from Manchester University. Before joining the film world, Sujoy worked for Reuters. He was in charge of their media division for South Asia. He left this job in 1999 to follow his passion for films.
Sujoy is married to Vaishali, who is a psychologist. They have two children. Their daughter, Diya, is also a film director. Their son, Agni, used to be a professional rugby player.
His Journey in Films
Sujoy Ghosh started his journey as a director in 2003. His first movie was Jhankaar Beats. This film was a tribute to the famous music director R. D. Burman. It was a low-budget movie but became a surprise hit.
His next films, Home Delivery and Aladin, were not as successful. However, in 2012, he directed Kahaani. This movie starred Vidya Balan and was a huge success. Critics loved it, and it did very well at the box office. Kahaani is known for its thrilling story.
